    Fuel tank venting

When I got my '74 Duster, the factory tank was gone, along with the spare tire well. Slab of sheetmetal on the trunk floor and a fuel cell on it... I wasn't a fan. I got lucky, found a very nice trunk floor, tank, and 5/16" pickup/sender from a '73 Valiant and stuck them in. There are no ports...

    converting to electric

in process of getting my 67 up and running again. gas tank is full with 10+ year old gas so was planning on dropping and maybe just replacing the tank instead of trying to clean it... came upon the aftermarket setups with a fuel pump inside the tank for efi applications.. would this work on a...

Fuel delivery questions, getting an old plymouth back on the road.

    1. Rusty or clogged? If clogged, disconnect the hard line at the tank and at the fuel pump. Run some hose from the line in front into a container. Apply air pressure at the rear into the line. If it's still plugged, replace it. If it's rusty, replace it. 2. Each section of hose only needs to...

    Fuel pump

I would look at your fuel rail. If it has a return port and a FPR (doubt it does) than I would use the one with a return port. Pretty sure your factory setup was returnless. I know the later cars, even the Hellcats were. I know some swear by a return style fuel system when getting into big...

    Gets hot and stalls out

I was considering swapping from a carb setup to a Sniper setup, which (I believe) requires a return line. Seems like a good way to kill maybe more than two birds with one stone.

    Fuel systems for drag cars

I can only tell you what I have done. Fuel cell. Block one eight outlet, a ten to the filter, ten to the pump, eight to 1/2 aluminum line to the regulator. Two Eights out of the regulator to the carb on the nine second car, sixes for the eleven second car. 250gph pump on the nine, 150gph on the...

    Gets hot and stalls out

Vapor lock would be my first guess, too. Ii have had that exact same problem from the fuel line running too close to the header tubes. I wrapped that section of line with thermal insulation tape and problem went away.

    Carburetors for STR-12 Manifold

I used the Bouchillon Bracket to mount 2 return springs: Fuel line connecting 4 inlets is next before I am done. I am gonna shelf this thing until I get other stuff done.

    Fuel systems for drag cars

A 2nd on the quality line. I have replaced countless (it seems) braided rubber lines that deteriorate and leak.when I do, now, I always use teflon line. More expensive for sure, but it lasts MUCH longer, and doesn't leak! Don't be like me, do it right the first time..... for the 414. (Three -6...

Where to get replacement 1972 5/16" vapor return line?

I have a 1972 Plymouth Duster and am trying to replace the vapor return line. Mine is 2 piece, 5/16" OD and all pre-bent manufacturers seem to say the line should be 1/4". I see listing of 5/16" for 1971 and wondering if that is the line my car has for some reason. For mine the line routes...

    Gets hot and stalls out

Noted, though the summer temps and shade in Phoenix are a bit different than Flagstaff or even Kayenta, so I'm not sure if you're stupid-hot in the summers like us or more human-compatible. (I used to live in Farmington, NM, and love Sedona!) OK, so it really looks like a return system along...

Pressure in new tank- found out why

67 A bodies have a tube on the top of the filler neck that goes to a U shaped hard line tube that follows the filler neck down through the trunk floor and terminates open to the atmosphere inside the rear driver's side frame rail. The extra tube on the sender is for later years return line from...

    Gets hot and stalls out

I have the same setup as you do in pic 1, EXCEPT my fuel line and filter are essentially against the block (more or less between the alternator bracket and block). Hopefully the pics attached show the setup. I was concerned that putting the line on the other side of the bracket could interfere...

    sending unit ground strap

I am sure there has been questions on this before but, I bought the 3 3/4 in ground strap but it is not long enough to attach from the fuel line to the sending unit. My question is will it do the job if I attach it to the return line and the return line port on the sending unit?

    return line location

That's not a solid fuel return line. That's the vapor return line that attaches to the charcoal canister that mounts in that front corner.

    Which one is better? (long)

Are you sure the truck was a return style fuel system? It has a fuel pressure regulator on the rail and 2 connections? I am pretty sure that after about ‘93, all the Dodge trucks went to a single line returnless fuel system. The Jeep GC carried the return style setup the longest, but I thought...

    Complete fuel system

Hey DD, will you shoot a couple pictures of your engine bay? Its is for some eye candy but to also see the condition of the wiring and components as well. I think it puts the viewers in the drivers seat to weigh in on what they would do. My feeling without seeing things is to run a stock...

    Complete fuel system

This is a new build, has no wiring but will have brand new wiring harnesses. Has no carb, don’t know what to run yet. No headers, stock exhaust manifolds. Everything is and will be brand new.

Any great cummins diesel guys on here?

70Duste, I have been presented with this problem in the past, and very recently. 1200 psi cranking from the CP3 is pretty low. I would check the fuel rail pressure relief valve. It is located on the fuel rail just behind where the intake is. It is about 2" tall and fastens directly to the rail...

    Electric fuel system

I had a very similar issue ( electric fuel pump being noisy), and went with a Tanks inc. setup with multiple carbs. Just use a fuel pressure regulator and gauge to regulate the pressure and a return line for the fuel bled from the regulator and send it back to the tank. You will need to use...

how does a 318 engine run if timing is off ?

Classic sign of fuel-tank not being vented, and/or, the hard line sucking air. it's a wonder your engine runs at all with those short-reach lawnmower plugs in it; LA plugs have always been 3/4" reach, which in the Champion line, carries the prefix "N"...

    Which one is better? (long)

I am putting a 904 in it because i am not going to cut up the floor for the a500/518. I will be using a Walbro fuel pump hooked to a 3/8 sending unit. I have braided line to replace the stock 5/16 line. I won't be using any emission stuff. The 96 truck this came out of is a return system. I have...

    Routing fuel lines correctly

Hello everybody, I was hoping you guys could send me some pics or ideas on how to route my fuel lines from the pump to carb. I have a california car with a fuel filter that has a third outlet for fuel return. This is the only piece of the emissions crap I kept as ive been told it helps with...

    converting to electric

Electrics have their drawbacks, but they also have their advantages. After a decade of running both at different times I would have to say mechanical is more reliable. I run electric myself because of those advantages. Instant fuel to the carb and therefore instant starts with very little...

    Charcoal canister, help me understand.

It's uphill from the fuel pump to the tank, ...... It's not gonna syphon unless air gets in between from the pump end, and only if the jumper at the back is good and only if the tank is under suction. That's a lot of ifs. I got some possibilities for ya. 1) make sure the tank is vented 2) Open...

    Magnum and Wiring Swap

Thanks for posting the information and pictures about your fuel system. I forgot that I would need a return line for the adjustable regulator. I guess I could put it in the trunk if I wind up needing one. It feels good to get things figured out. I've wanted another A body to replace my Grandpa's...
