slant 6 Dodge Dart this is different! Its not mine but it's cool

Excellent concept, but nothing “fits” in my opinion. A hyper pack dart wagon is Uber cool though.

    Cam Experts: Lobe Separation Angle?

Yeah, I had a 360 in a 65 Valiant years ago that had 210 PSI and it never once rattled on pump premium once I got everything tuned. It did, however RUN better on 112 leaded Cam 2.

    Speedmaster head hypothetical

I'm working on a couple of heads/ports starting with bare Speedmaster heads. Pictured are the specs on two different flow bench runs. If these heads are used on a 408 for street or street/strip, which would you choose? In my mind the answer is clear, but I know some of you racers and dyno...

    Cam Experts: Lobe Separation Angle?

That depends on who you ask. I also don’t get excited about cranking compression either except in the fact that as cranking compression goes up, the tuning window gets smaller. If someone isn’t into tuning and keeping a close eye on stuff then a lower cranking compression is a good idea. What...

slant 6 Dodge Dart this is different! Its not mine but it's cool

That is very cool. I'd sure love the details on "340 valves". My unicorn head has 318 valves and I don't see room for much more. MAYBE 1.88 and 1.60s, but I seriously doubt it. Very cool car nonetheless.

My search for a shorty D100 is over

When I first bought my falcon it had a 144 cu in straight 6 and a 3 speed. I think it was rated at 90hp or so. We drove it to and from the duct tape drags in Tucson the first year. 55 miles an hour for 9 hours. We got to the point where it wasn’t fun anymore. That’s why that car got the v6 and a...

Creak/Pop In the Front End of My Swinger

It's entirely possible. It could be anything moving with the steering. I pointed to ball joints, because that's a classic ball joint creak/pop.

I personally would want my backs to lock up before fronts (no steering) but obviously not too soon.

My search for a shorty D100 is over

Yeah I guess what I mean is it'll cruise just fine once you're already doing 75. The issue is getting it up to 75. If you have a short on ramp with a stock slant six in CA, you're a liability. I just drove my SL6 Duster to work this morning and I have to do everything in my power to ensure I...

Considering Holley sniper EFI for my 1969 340. Thoughts from people who have that set up?

I always say this but it makes little sense to run the Holley EFI without the Hyperspark ignition system. Being able to control the timing through the ECU software is a major benefit of the conversion to EFI. Without the timing control you will be leaving performance and drivability on the...

Creak/Pop In the Front End of My Swinger

I want to believe the idler arm is somehow involved, but I don't know the anatomy of an idler arm very well. I'm pretty sure I did not change it when I swapped out the bushings and tie rod ends. Thanks everyone for all the ideas of where to look -- I just have to get through T-Day and then I...

Suggestions for new design Aluminum Mopar SB clean slate (kind of) cylinder heads

My bad. I meant IF BPE built a head for offset rockers they’d never sell them. They’d use them on their stuff but they’d kill the head sales by probably 98% with an offset rocker. So I get what BPE is doing and it makes perfect sense for them. But it’s not a head that changes the market.

    SBM Edelbrock/Speedmaster Head Data

The problem isn’t really in the bulk of the cnc “porting”…….., it’s detail work in the seat and bowl area, and how well that transition is sorted out. And the fact is, it takes expensive machines, with operators given ample time to get that transition done right. When you’re building a product...

    M72HV bottom plate

My opinion here is the same as in your other thread. The mods you’re asking about are beyond the scope of the build you’re doing. A stock magnum with proper rod/mains clearance, tight lifter bores, and an HV pump (I add the high pressure spring also) will be more than you’ll likely ever need. I...

Suggestions for new design Aluminum Mopar SB clean slate (kind of) cylinder heads

It's more competition in the main segment of the market 450-550 hp which is always good, it probably makes little financial sense to cater to the 650-850 hp crowd, if someone could make a relatively cheap (TF price) stock style head for the next step up 600-650 hp (330 ish) would probably do...

Suggestions for new design Aluminum Mopar SB clean slate (kind of) cylinder heads

What are you talking about? No one is saying they won't sell. BPE is building a head for their engines and they will sell them separately. Of course they will sell them. What some of us are saying is this head isn't a needle mover in the performance market. It's a stock head with stud rockers...

Considering Holley sniper EFI for my 1969 340. Thoughts from people who have that set up?

Sell the MSD and grab the latest version of the Holley Sniper. AndyF & Fastman EFI are the experts on these set-ups, and both are on this forum. They forgot more than most know about the Holley Sniper systems.
