    now to figure out how to cut the reliefs without tearing up the hood. I want to make the scoops functional just for the cool factor. I've read somewhere that they don't really work like a regular scoop because of the opening being to close to the hood.

    @72bluNblu I just realized from oldmanmopars posts that the reliefs I remembered were in a dart that I owned in the 80's.

    @Oldmanmopar LOL you were right, I actually found those old pictures and sure enough, no reliefs in the bracing! So it must be only the dart style hoods that had the reliefs.

    I think I may be mistaken, I'm gonna have to find those pictures of my 72. they would be from 41 years ago and my memory ain't as good as it used to be.

    @Oldmanmopar my 72 duster had the reliefs cutout out in the reinforcement along with the holes for both types of scoops in the reinforcement. I did already know that the dusters didnt come with the waterdam cutouts.

    @72bluNblu from what I saw on another post, it has the correct hinge adjustment plate located in the hood instead of the slots with fixed nuts in the hood. but it could be a replacement hood I wouldn't know how to tell

    I know the hole wasn't there, I'm talking about the cutout in the reinforcement under the hood, the half moon where the hole would be on the outside. see the pic I posted, that cutout isnt there and makes me think the hood is not original, but it looks original as far as I can tell

    I have the original scoops from my 71 duster, there is pitting on the surface, what is the best way to fix this also my hood doesn't have the cutout in the reinforcement, does this mean my hood is a 73 and up, the holes for the scoops are factory

    my turn signal still functions and like others, I was able to put the washer and nut on and still have some threads exposed, so I guess that is just the way they are. Thanks everyone for the pictures and replies.

    That looks like you have the exaxt same spacing as me. I guess that is correct, it just looks funny too me.

    I just got the adapter from Classic and it doesn't seem like it is going on all the way. the nut just goes past the top thread on the shaft. I cant seem to get a good picture of it to show. It is aligned with the keyway on the shaft and adapter, any input or suggestions would be greatly...

    @junkyardhero, nope, just have a cast iron factory intake and no carb, that is why I was asking for recommendations.

    @junkyardhero, thanks for the reply, I'm all about easy especially since I have never been good at tuning a carb. Performance wise, I think just putting in the big block will give me the desired effect and performance I'm looking for.
