    Voltage regulator smoking?

looking into the dash it really does look like someone unwrapped parts of the harness to trace issues, made some fixes and then just stuffed it all back up under the dash. The wire insulation looks so fresh and unfaded that it must have been protected by the wrap. Question to some of the early...

Magazine cars. How many on the forum?

In 2001 I took my first really nicely finished Darts to the Mopar Nationals. To get on the show field you had to send them 6 photos of the car from specific standard angles, plus the engine and interior. It is still the only show that I have been to that requires every car to have a fire...

    Cast iron exhaust manifold cleaning

The POR stuff rocks! it looks like crap until you start the engine, then it melts into the manifold, all the brush strokes go away. But the best part is touching them up with a small brush - start the engine and the touch ups melt into the existing paint and you can't even find the repairs -...

Do the engine block colors signify anything?

at one point I thought that the switch from red to blue on 318s coincided with the switch from forged to cast cracks - is that correct?

    In case I need help

The gloss is certainly a LOT easier to care for and keep looking nice as compared to the textured organisol that the factory used. and therefore, that's what I did on the hood of the car in my avatar.

67 Barracuda Front Shocks - Reducing amount of bounce

I presume that the outside edge of the tire is contacting the bottom front corner of the wheel opening. I would, as mentioned earlier, go to a 205-70-14 which is about the diameter and width of the original E-70-14s, but there is another way to skin this cat. I believe that the front corner of...

    Voltage regulator smoking?

OUCH!!! Layson's has the piece in the firewall (installs from the inside) part# 316-46842... $119, but I presume that the wires in both sides are toasted too. The entire front wiring harness Headlights to the firewall is $392 and everything under the dash is $1120.

    Voltage regulator smoking?

Did everything work before your "charging event"? Have you checked all the fuses? There is a chance that the fuses blew and that's how you avoided much wire damage.

    Vapor (Water) Shields

Be careful if you make your own in choosing material. Pulled door panels off a 70 Duster not long ago and the sheets were there but brittle and busted in a few spots. I talked to the owner and he had made sheets and installed them with the door panels 4 years earlier. Whatever the material...

    Factory Painted "Vinyl" Roof

So the question would be, why so few two tone painted roofs when it was clearly a factory option? I think I have an idea. Here are ads for a special package offered on 1970 Darts: So if they a "giving away" vinyl roofs as a part of a special cost package, why pay for a contrasting painted...

Magazine cars. How many on the forum?

I guess with the demise of most of the Mopar mags and even general high performance/hot rodding magazines, "magazine cars" will be a thing of the past. It hasn't been that long ago that there were 5 or 6 Mopar specific magazines. I can't believe that some enterprising person wouldn't start one...
