I borrowed a factory magnum head from a friend and found that the floor of the port was 0.450" from the deck and the ceiling was 2.600" So these "magnum" eq head ports are every bit of 1/8" off or more.

It appears what you did was the correct procedure, but you simply made a mistake somewhere. Happens all the time. No need for a senior citizen home. It's just a hunk of metal. You'll get it figured out.

I guess I will add I have seen condenser failures on my tractors more frequently but I also have a pile of NOS condensers that I grab up at auctions yard sales etc in tune up kits of all kinds and they generally all jam into a distributor lol. Another thing you mentioned was headlights dimming...

I am familiar with that pump, yes very similar. Sounds like its a busy pump for you and it works well? Yes I had to fab up the bracketry for it and size a pulley for my small block application.
