Is there a way to evacuate air from a slant six cooling system?

Just so you know, 1) the CTS cannot measure air temp very accurately. If it was to sit in an air pocket, above the hot coolant, it would read lower than the liquid temp actually is. 2) I have been running my system at 207 at the stat-house, on purpose, for a couple of decades.

DUMB MECHANICAL OIL PRESSURE GAUGE QUESTION

It could be that the hose is leaking at one of the fittings, for -3 and -4 there should be olives in the fitting. We pressure test all of the braided hoses we assemble. We use -3 for brake lines on the race cars and once in a while we have an issue with the olive not sealing right.

1970 carter 4933s,Rebuild or buy edelbrock?

First off, have you determined that the carb is even the reason that it "runs little ruff"? A little discoloration at the carb seams doesn't necessarily mean that it's leaking. I would definitely rebuild the original Carter (it's already an AVS, by the way) if for no other reason than to get...

1970 carter 4933s,Rebuild or buy edelbrock?

Rebuild for sure, unless it has major problems. That carb was calibrated for your engine and transmission.

1970 carter 4933s,Rebuild or buy edelbrock?

I didn't have an original carb like you do so I went with the AVS650. If had one, for a totally stock engine, I would lean towards rebuilding if the throttle plates and bores are in good shape.

Non-Mopar car you wish you had purchased?

I was up at a Texas boneyard last year or so, big pasture, all old cars. The owners grandkids had (probably 12 and 14 maybe) pulled out a Gremlin and dropped in what the yard help thought was a 401 Amc motor. They used it to "drive" the yard. I should have asked if for sale., but I caught...

    340 tune up

Have to agree with post #13. The 71 340 was probably the best small block package ever produced. Almost everything is heavy duty to last hundreds of thousands of miles. It had the best intake, Carb, heads, rockers, springs, double roller timing set. My 71 340 was still breaking into the 13's...

Electronic ignition was introduced approximately 6/1/71 (and on 340s only)... so it could be either one, but the majority will be points.

Well Rock Auto let me down today. I found they had 3 Carter M6903 in stock and dirt cheap. 160.00 cad. I ordered one last night and just got the message they’re out of stock. Dammit.

Non-Mopar car you wish you had purchased?

I had the chance - some years ago - to buy an Espada (same color), when they were still relatively cheap. I didn't, because I feared the complexity of the engine/drivetrain. I regret this decision (or non-decision) often...
