    Sheet Metal Intake

I'd say it depends on what's under it. Id PBR (RIP) ported the one you have now, it's probably a pretty damn good match for what you have.

    Fender tag date code.

No. It denotes the scheduled production date of your car as October 23rd, 1968. Since October is the 10th month of the year, Chrysler used the letter A as the prefix and the 23 is the day scheduled. November would be ''B'', and December would be ''C''. Then in January, it would start as a single...

Replacement 68 340 four speed cams

You can't just look at one piece though and say "that couldda been better". That was the whole mystique behind these cars.....the whole package. While they weren't slow, the B & E bodies with the 340s weren't as feared on the street as the A body cars. It was just a good all around package...

    Sheet Metal Intake

If that sheet metal intake is for LA (not W) heads it will most likely be better than any head you put below it. In any configuration.

I've never done headers, just manifolds, but POR15 Manifold Gray states good to 1400*F.

Talk me into or out of Holley Terminator X

Your exaggerating what I said. I said the tbi systems have the same shortcomings as a carburetor. What I mean by that, is wet flow. Not concerned about dirty hands and all the other gibberish. And a novice will spend a BUNCH more time learning to tune with those systems.

    Voltage regulator smoking?

Way to scare him right off the bat lol. My bulkhead was toasted pretty bad but I only had to cut a few wires back and splice in a few inches of wire and replace the packard connectors. Probably spent $150 total on a new bulkhead, some connectors and wire. He may need some local help. I...

    Direct Connection RB connecting rods

You are absolutely right. 3/8" is what I meant, Being familiar with and using metric daily sometimes results in this kind of errors. We don't use or even have other than metric measures so it has always to be converted. For me the measures are 9,525mm and 11,1125mm when measuring 3/8" and 7/16".

Stop in for a cup of coffee

The prairie dog in my avatar didn't mind the ride at all and was absolutely happy in my shirt and looking out and around but one of her cage mates hated the truck (the quiet truck) and had to put him in a pet carrier. Some years back I had a mixed breed terrier and anyone that drove into the...

    273 Commando Rebuild Or Not?

After thinking about this, I pulled a 273 head off the shelf and unwrapped it. After looking at the witness marks from the .020 original head gaskets, I think any LA head gasket with 4.04 bore will work as well as anything. If one was to use a smaller bore the fire ring would not seal the...

Replacement 68 340 four speed cams

We can also put whatever we want in these cars now and the wide LSA isn't in my favorites category. I agree in this respect about the factory built it and it was good at the time. Just because they put it in the car back then doesn't mean it was the best choice, or the one the really wanted to...

    Soĺ Cal fires

The wind speed yesterday and last night was higher than I think I’ve ever seen. And I’ve been in California my whole life. I woke up at 4 am yesterday and my palm trees were sideways. Sustained 60-70mph with gusts much higher than that. This morning driving to work through chino on the 71 it...
