As I getting ready to reassemble my Holley 650DP I have two kits on hand to use, one being a Holley 37-485 TricKit, and the other is a AED-4150. So my question is is the AED as good as the Holley? Or are both kits of the same quality? Just wanted to know if one was better than the other.

Success!! I ended up soaking it in CLR for about a hour and a half, washed it with water and followed RRR advice and started tapping it with a hammer back and forth adding WD-40 and it started to move and after about 15min they were out! Thank you for all your help and opinions. Mike.

I thought that the acetone and atf was going to be my magic solution, Just trying anything that I have on hand.

Yes it is the shafts that are stuck in the plate, I had already boiled the plate in a mixture of vinegar and water with no luck.

Blades are off, just sprayed some fluid film on it. I have a friend with a sonic cleaner, any recommendations for a solvent solution that I could try?

I have tried a 50/50 mixture of atf and acetone for the last week and its a no go. What have you people tried with some success? Trying to save a base plate for a 650DP.

You are missing O ring from what I can see. I like to put some lubricant on it before I install it, silicone spray/ Vaseline to help it install easily.

Mine is actually two pieces, and I am just missing the mast. Will post a picture later today.

Glad I could help. Year's ago when I was in my teens, my friend used to screw the lock tight so he could open the passenger door with just pressing the door handle. That's when I caught on.

Try unscrewing the plastic door lock. If it's too tight then you don't get the rods in full engagement.

The Carter carburetor in your pictures is not a spreadbore. You should look for a Thermoquad carburetor, Q-jet or a Holley spreadbore. The secondaries are significantly bigger on a spreadbore.

Looks like it is 7 22 68 Which would make more sense. I have seen 67 casting dates on 340 blocks. But I am no expert.

The three bolts are at the bottom and the two are at the top. Flip the one cover over.

Run it as it is. Tune it to get a baseline and make changes from there if necessary.

Thanks for the information, he also wants to buy the crankshaft as it is a steel one. But I warned him that he would need to get it balanced for his assembly.

I am thinking that he will need a line bore to use these caps or any other caps. He might be better off to get 340 caps.

Can you use 273 main bearing caps on a 340? I have a person that wants to do this and I don't want to sell him the wrong parts. Thanks Mike.

Yes I agree that it is a "junk" car, but I am harvesting lots of great parts off of it. It is helping others get their cars back together. Not sure why you gave me the red X it is a "parts car "

The roof is in very nice shape! Every time I look at it I find more. From fasteners to trim pieces. It's been a good parts car. Hard to believe that it looked like a complete car before we dragged it out! Sat for 45 years on a dirt floor.

$1000 cdn came with both NOS rear quarters in nice condition. Already sold enough parts to pay for the car. Plus i got some for mine as well. And I still have the quarters.
