No worries It’s always great to go big and make power easier. He’s is going bigger. But this is always the case on the forum. If you don’t go big, it turns into a bashing through many posts re stating it. A few even dog pile on it. When does it end? If you put a 440 in a car, then next quip is...

NYT article: "Driving Habits Shared With Insurance Firms".

Every so often I switch up insurance carriers. As their prices creep up again, annoyed and start looking elsewhere. So I went from one insurance company to another just recently, and they offered me a plug-in to the ODB two port to monitor my driving habits so they can lower my insurance...

speedmaster stuff pulled from Summit racing shelves

Summit is a corporate biz who will sell anything and up to the point of this viral video they stopped because of the possible legal issue that may yet still arise from selling a counterfeit copy. As he said, Corporations don’t care about you, they care only for money. That’s a 100% fact...

    Speedmaster Flow Limits

LOL… what the magazines write - 28 vs 10 & what the engine see’s. Enough numbers to keep your head spinning for a little bit.

    Speedmaster Flow Limits

Then there is the case where you get to a point where you hurt the low end lift pretty good and pick up on the high lifts pretty good. This, to me turns the head into a drag head where the valves are just simply shot open as fast as possible and then just hang out there for a spell before...

I Chose the 383 Big Block

Uh-huuuu, I did mention that. The big block weight savings is pretty good IMO.

I Chose the 383 Big Block

Yes to a bigger valve. It’s just the OEM head ports do not flow as well as one would think. The aftermarket solved that. Porting your own iron heads can be a great cost savings and produce excellent flow. The 906/452, etc… very good heads to port. 300 & plus cfm available if it’s done right. Of...

I Chose the 383 Big Block

The big blocks extra weight disappears pretty darn quickly when you add the aluminum part you find and would do on a small block. If memory serves…. The big block becomes lighter. Check out “MoPar Joe” & “318willrun” on YouTube for his video on this. I have run both series engines n the same...

    LD4B Intake question

Oh yes because it increases torque by 70-80 fr lbs easy! I guess if it’s after the apocalypse in the world looks like Fury Road or Thunderdome and you sitting next to me Gibson scraping for scraps, I guess the 318 heads on a 340 will be OK then. But not before then!

    "I was told"

For me it’s the first half when answering a question. Example; “I was told the part also fits big blocks.” I don’t know but was told by someone I know and trust usually follows OR it is hearsay which will be know. Normally it’ll be stated as “I heard this will fit, but I don’t know myself.”...

The Elephant ears are really good and stiff keeping the engine where it needs to be. Look into Manciniracing.com and see if they have the swap mounts. Another header is made by TTI. They also can supply an entire exhaust system for there own headers for your car n 2-1/2 or 3 inch tube size...

    Which body for best performance?

For A body cars, the post cars are stronger body wise. The other issue to think about is wheel base. A shorter wheel base is less desirable by some. The longer wheel base cars will be better for drag racing. This is obviously seen in the extreme at national events with dragsters. The longer...

WOW! Some Ol’skool stuff there. Everybody working?
  24. rumblefish360

Jacob’s ignition testing. Thanks to Newbomb Turk….

It’s also hard to find an area or condition where there isn’t a Benefit to having a hotter spark but it becomes a issue is it really needed and how much does it improve the combustion. A combination of hotter, longer, larger and multiple strikes is the winner and nearly always improves mileage...

Not that I’m aware of. Zero radio interference with mine.
  28. rumblefish360

Jacob’s ignition testing. Thanks to Newbomb Turk….

Yes. It’s also a larger and more powerful spark. You can also open up the plug gap to make the spark longer. So you end up with a longer length hotter spark to more full ignite the fuel. This results in more power (under full throttle or not) and mileage when cruising.
