    Rumblfish, thanks for reply. I'm just now starting to assemble motor, so pan is NOT installed. I spent to much money, so trying to do some things on cheap. My conscience tells me too get better pan, but wallet ignores it!

    bigger rear drums

    I spoke with someone at Layson's Restoration and the gentleman there informed me that all 7 1/4 thru 9 1/4 rear brake sets interchange. I have tried it and used truck stuff as well as wagon rear brakes for my 8 3/4 axles.

    A-body Big bolt pattern Axles ??

    I bought truck axles from wrecking yard and had them cut and re-splined. That may be cheapest way to go. Also depends on what your doing with car. Average street car with occasional blast should be fine. I have 2 sets done that way, 1 set in a 12 second a body mostly track car with no problems...
