I have a '75 dodge dart /6 and was wondering what kind of oil is best for it...some people have said straight 30w (which is currently in it now) and others say 10w30 or 15w40......thanks for the help, I need to do an oil change here soon, I know it's been a while.

I did all the early stuff you talked about, vacuum pod ok "check", bend u to 1/8th in' open on sencond step "check" hoses not cracked or worn "check" nothing was changed as far as vacuum lines unless someone is messing with my car and I didn't know it so I'm at a lose, but the thing gives me...

64 ragtop, yep did all that...i've checked the vacuume lines over and over, all appears well..if the thing would ever get on the sencond step of the cam it would be open the 8th inch....but it just goes from being full force close and on to completely off when I get down the road. ugh, i wish...

oh Bill! we're finally getting somewhere, I was using the wrong term...the choke pull off, that is whats messing up, it's not letting the choke open up like it should when it starts up COLD....my choke just stays completely closed and on the highest step of the cam until the thermostate starts...

ha, it sure doesn't help to pinpoint problems when there are several going on either (shrug)

well....umm...so i have a little vacuum pod that is connected to the step cam. Before when I would start up my car (cold start) then it would be on the highest step on the cam...so I'd give it a little gas and it would drop down to the next step, give it a little more it drops again til it's on...

hello, i have a 75 dodge dart /6 with a 1945 holley carb. So my carbs choke is sticking and won't drop down on the cam, it does open up eventually because the thermostate pulls it open. I finally saw what was the hang up today - my vacuum pod is not releasing, it stays sucked in the whole time...

well for anyone with the same problem...it was the wiring was all dirty, as soon as we cleaned it up it started right up. The linkage going to my neutral safety switch was loose as well so we put some washers on it to tighten it up which is great. Thank you all for your help

talked to my dad and he said same thing...we are going to get some gunk cleaner and spray the engine down and clean all wires and replace if needed...I've gone over and over with my choke and can see no binding and the vacuum is in working order...so its probably like red said- a problem with...

oops, sorry, slant six of course...75 dodge dart....its a wire that plugs into the bottom of it where there is like some kind of sensor or solenoid looking thing attached (my dad thinks it probably checks the oil pressure) forgot to mention too...it's like my choke is messing up as...

so...i had everything working perfectly...buttery smooth idle, started eveytime no matter what, getting 20 mpg...just perfect...for like only 3 months :P then one day its really really cold and it had a hard time starting, finally got it going and the thing reeks of gas, I mean a 20 foot...

well, I turned the mixture screw out a quarter and the idle screws in a quarter...see how he runs now... I work on the strip in las vegas so it's not really convenient to just stall out with cabbys honking and flipping me off....i'm sure if they didn't have to fear reprocussions they would...

when adjusting the idle I would want to adjust the curb idle right, or do I need to do the fast idle speed too/instead? I do not have a tachometer and the last guy did it by ear so I was just going to make small changes and see how it runs....now do I turn those out or in to increase...

Wondering what might cause this, SometimeS when I start up cold (or sitting about 8 hours) it will idle fine, reverse fine, put it in drive fine, but when i press on the gas I immediately stall....no chugging or puttering, just stall. So I have to stick it nuetral and rev the engine then throw...

hi everybody....I keep having issues with my automatic choke, sometimes it works like a dream, other times it's a major pain...I was thinking on changing it to a manual choke and wanted to see what y'alls thoughts were on it... Has anyone done this and if so did you like it more? Is it easy...

LOL...."sealing it up" was referring to kev67's comment...he said he just sealed the leak and I know you can't really do that, it's not solving the problem....I was just being silly we did disconnect it for a temp fix like I said.....I suppose we'll just tackle this thing cause I have scoured...
