automatic choke

hi everybody....I keep having issues with my automatic choke, sometimes it works like a dream, other times it's a major pain...I was thinking on changing it to a manual choke and wanted to see what y'alls thoughts were on it...

Has anyone done this and if so did you like it more?

Is it easy to install?

It would be hard to install a manual choke (cut firewall, dashboard, ...) and fixing your auto choke would be easier. Can still buy new ones cheap. My guess is that your choke pull-off diaphragm at the top of the carb is bad, so you have to set the choke spring too loose. You can test it w/ a vaccum pump or with your finger. Can buy just that part.
