    727 shifting issues

Car is 340/727 Dart. In drive, normal acceleration, shifts 1,2,3 by about 30mph, I think that's about right?? Aggressive acceleration (pedal to the floor) very sloppy, feels to me like slipping, till 3rd then pulls strongly. No way this thing will do a burn out! Slowing down, if I select 1st...

    Buying a converter?

Got a line on a Dynamic 9.5 / 3800 stall, guy says it was behind a 400, not sure what car or engine build but he said it was "too much for his setup". I'd like to put this behind my 1969 340/727 in the Dart. My motor is pretty much a stock rebuild, XE268 cam, LD340, 750 Holley, car has 3:23's...

    Wheel cylinder rods

Hi All, anyone know where I can pick up a set of wheel cylinder rods? I'm doing a rear drum (10" a-body) build up with all new parts and I'm missing these small rods that connect the wheel cylinder with the shoes. I thought they'd come with the wheel cylinders but they didn't. Any help much...

Disc brake conversion / front wheels

I converted the 9" drums on the front of my 72' Swinger to a disc set up from a 70' Valiant. Do the rims need to be a different back space for the disc set up?? If so, what back space would I be looking for? Car is still in storage, just trying to get organized for the spring.

Shipping the car Ontario to NB

I'm thinking of shipping my Swinger down to Moncton from Southern Ontario for a couple weeks this July. Can anyone in Southern Ontario, or the East Coast, recommend a service that they've used that they we're happy with or let me know which ones to avoid and what kind of money I could be looking...

    Drum to disc..rim backspace?

Do 14" steel rims on a 9" drum brake setup use the same backspace as rims used on the KH brake setup? Both are SBP for a 72' Dart, thanks.

    69' 340, 71' rad, what else?

I'm piecing together my car over the winter. I picked up a 1971 rad in the fall to put in front of my 1969 340. I got the right water pump to make the rad hoses work. What else do I need to get everything to line up? Do the alternator, ps pump and crank pulley also need to be 70' and later or...

Wanted: 727 torque shaft brackets/column shift

I'm looking for a set of torque shaft brackets for a 340/727 column shift Dart Swinger. Please PM me if you have a set for sale or know where I can get some.

    727 tranny brackets

Seasons Greetings all. I took the slant six/904 drive train out of my 72 Swinger and put in a 340/727. It’s a column shift car. The torque shaft brackets don’t seem to line up. It looks like the bracket on the frame could stand to be about 5/8” higher to line up with the one on the tranny. I...

    Tranny cooler line routing

Got the Dougs hung on the engine, good fitting headers! Since the stock cooler lines no longer fit, where do you guys route the lines. I'm bending 5/16th hard line from the 727 up to the bottom of the rad. I can run them up the frame rail then across, or tuck them over the header tube and run...

    Rear drum strut bar

Hi all, I'm looking for a right rear strut bar (not the apply lever) for my 10" x 1 3/4" a-body drum brake setup. They are specific to the 10" drum, found lots of 11" ones, but no 10". Any help much appreciated, thanks.

    Canadian shipping

I need a set of Dougs headers. I would like to order from Summit, use the discount coupon, and get them dropped at the door. The Summit guy didn't know if they had any sort of deal/exemption with the border. I don't wanna get stung with a broker fee. Any Canuks ordered from Summit? Is there any...

Anyone running Dougs D453 headers with their 340 and a 727? Their website says they don't fit with a 727.

    833 Id?

Trying to figure out what this one is. P833 5624. On the tail shaft is C13386, just below it is LA. On the case is C13303A, 10.21.76. and a 23 spline shaft. I'm not really familiar with the four speeds but the shift rods look extremely big and the tranny mount is some contraption I've never...

    340 cranking pressure

Broke in the 340 a few weeks ago, all went well. It's still in the run stand so I decided to check the cranking pressure yesterday. Using a screw in type compression gauge, the right bank are all 155psi, the left bank are between 137psi and 149psi. The engine was cold when I did the check. I...

    Priming pressure

Got the 340 bolted up to the run stand today. Oil and additive went in, getting just shy of 80psi with the drill with oil going to both rocker shafts. Does this pressure sound ok for priming with the drill?

Does anyone have the correct dimensions for the bee stripes on a 70 Swinger? Car is heading to the paint shop this afternoon. Thanks.

    tranny linkage 904/727

The slant/904 drivetrain is out, the car is in for paint. The small block/727 setup is waiting to go in. Does any of the 904 shift linkage fit the 727? It's a 72 Swinger.

    7 1/4 behind 340

Will a 71/4 with a suregrip live behind a stock 340? Don't have the coin for the 83/4 right now. Street car only, and the rear is in it now.

    Engine/Body colour

Evening all. The drive train is out and the car is being prepped for paint. I was toying with the idea of painting the block the same colour as the body. I have seen it done a couple of times and thought it looked pretty good. If anyone has done this, can you post pics of your engine bay? I...

    Dana in a van?

Did these come in vans in the late 70's? I found a Dodge van in the scrapyard, tail light lens says it's a 78'. It has a 4bbl small block and it looks stretched with four big "panoramic" windows down each side. The rear end is fairly low to the ground so I really can't get a good look yet but I...

    Biggest 14" tire

Does anyone make a 14" tire bigger than 245/60 14 any more? I would like a 255 or better for the rear of my 72' Swinger, I've got sbp 7" rims back there and want to fill the wheel well.

    Tonights dumb question

I've got my 340 almost ready to go. I figure it's gotta be near the distributor somewhere, I...

    I need new shocks!

What is everyone using for shocks? I've had KYB's for the last four years, a little harsh but ok, now two of them have lost their charge. I just put the .920 t-bars in and I want something that handles well with a decent ride. I don't road race, this is just a street cruiser 72' Swinger. Anyone...

    Torsion bar install

I have been reading much on this, I'm changing my /6 ones to .920. I have seen references to "indexing" the bars at install. What does this mean? Is this something I have to do to get the correct ride height? This is a street crusier 72' Swinger not a race car.

    Cutting down an 8 3/4

I've got an 8 3/4, truck I think. I want to cut it down to a-body size. When I look inside the stock ends there is a small step down in the ID before you get to the axle tube ID. After the stock ends are cut off, I have the moser ends to weld on. It looks like there will be no step down between...

    Adjustable rocker pushrods

Mocked up the 273 rockers and shafts on the x-heads for the first time the other day. I'm using FedMog 2011R anti pump up lifters that I had set aside for the BB, their tech line said they were the same for SB. Pushrod length checker, on the cam base circle, showed 7.225 with about three threads...
