    The next step

Well I have truly enjoyed my first two seasons of drag racing with my 318 valiant. It is now time for my winter projects and to build up for next season. So what I have done is trade my valiant for a 69 road runner drag car roller. Has everything but a motor, trans, and shifter. I plan to...

thoughts and advice for a newbie to drag racing?

I just started drag racing my self with a 318 powered 1969 plymouth valiant. I have a 727 and won my first two bracket races. I am not real fast, I won the 8.9 class 1/8th mile. I would have to agree and say throw some slicks on it and make runs. I made over 30 runs my first race and another...

Any one have one of these? I currently have a performer on my 318 and since my car is more for drag racing I want to get the most out of my 318, Is this a better way to go? I am running a Holley 650 double pumper. Good cam. Wondering if this will get me anything. Thanks for your help.

    Timing MSD distributor

I have a question on timing my 318. I have a msd ignition. Now my question is I made my first drag runs this past weekend, I was really struggling off the line and keeping it even running at the line. The car starts great but is a dog of the line and really struggles off idle. I was recently...

    318 overheating

Thank you all for your help. Well, I will call this a rookie mistake, I had the maine hose higher than the fill spout on the radiator.... Changed my water neck of the intake to a side spout and made sure the hose was lower than the fill. Like I said I am really new to this. Again thank everyone.

    water pump flow direction

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. I had a reverse direction pump off a marine motor as it turns out. Came with a non marine engine. It did not even cross my mind to think of that?

    water pump flow direction

feel like it should be pulling from bottom of radiator, not the top. Make sense?

    318 overheating

OK new question on this. What direction should the flow of coolant be coming from. If I take the top hose off I am getting it pushed out the top hole of the radiator. Should it not be going to the pump from the bottom of the radiator?

    water pump flow direction

Please school me on the flow direction. I have been overheating and just started pulling hoses and realized that the flow was going from the top of the radiator into the intake. I thought it fed the pump from the bottom. Do I have a counter clockwise pump? Is that right?

    318 overheating

yes starts and runs very well. It stays cooler longer while running but eventually rises even while cruising. As soon as I hit a light or stop she climes up.
