Here's a long shot (regarding the pressure issue) but did you replace the oil pan with a high capacity pan and keep the stock length oil pickup? The reason I'm asking is I know someone who did this and had the exact oil pressure issue you describe.

You're probably already aware but it's a good idea to break all the machined edges on those heads with a small fine file. Those early EQ heads had some really nasty sharp edges. I have a pair and learned the hard way.

I was able to find out more info on this manifold. Was basically a small carb manifold designed for mpg gains on stock smog engines of the 70's it seems. Not the bargain I had hoped it was. I did not buy it once I found out what it actually was. Thanks guys.
