My aching eyeballs after practicing FCAW.

A picture with the $400.00 Speed-Glass hood. Not much if any difference in the lens quality. This hood is not recommended for out of position welding IE. overhead using FCAW or SMAW. So it has now been regulated to my shop work and GTAW only.By the way I'm using a small Hobart 140 welder...

My aching eyeballs after practicing FCAW.

As posted above by Scott657, It is a a big event for your eyes when starting out, a lot of my new students like to concentrate on the light(arc) instead of watching the puddle. My saying is do not stare at the light like a moth is attracted to a light bulb, told to me by one of my old welding...

My aching eyeballs after practicing FCAW.

Hello Duggi, As stated above try a different hood preferably a name brand hood, IE Miller, Lincoln, Speedglass to name a few. Also FCAW burns hotter and brighter than GMAW. With that little machine, hood should be on a min of 10 if using variable shade. This is somewhat dependent on your eyes...

    Holley street avenger metering block

Without pulling the bowl off.. on the side of the metering block just above the air mixture screw mine has stamped into it 2 11761. These are the only numbers I see on the block. There could be other numbers behind the fuel bowl but I'm not sure. Good luck and hopefully these are the numbers you...

    Chiropractors

Princess Valiant when my wife used to drive my 74 E body (car in my avatar) I would put 1" spacers under the back two bolts of the seat, she is about 4' 11" on a good day and she had no issues (except 1) driving the car. Only issue was she had to have the seat all the way forward and to me it...

    The famous left handed guitarist

"I'm right handed, but write left handed . And shoot a rifle left. Shot my Bow Right handed." You and I are a lot alike. I write and eat left handed, throw with either hand but better with my right, bat from either side but better from the left, weld with either hand (welding instructor) but...

    Picked up another car!

That's my favorite year Dart. Looks good, too. Mine also, Would trade the Challenger for the right 71 Dart. Would love to have it green, but the darker green with a black tail stripe, 340 or 360 and it needs to be a 4 speed. Kevin

    Champion radiators

Wrong body as mine is an E body, but I put a champion radiator in the car in my avatar and it has worked out great. It runs at at 180 all day long even when we have 100 degree days, such as today. Doesn't matter if its stop and go or cruising at 70 mph stays at 180. No electric fan or shroud...

Have a TIG Welder? What are you using?

"No mention of the AHP 201XD? I have heard very good things about them other than the source. I plan on getting one. Hard to beat for $700" I had a student bring one into a class I was teaching. Surprisingly it welded pretty nice. Biggest complaints were the physical size of the machine, not...

Have a TIG Welder? What are you using?

I have almost the same machine as 67Dart273, was my go to machine for years, now delegated to only stick welding as I have a Thermal Arc 185 for TIG welding. Hopefully in the next couple of months where I teach welding, they are going to be getting new Miller Dynasty 400's and will be selling...

    Lost A Friend Today

Sorry for your loss Rusty. We lost our cat in January after a 17 year run, she was a great mouser and have since replaced her with a very similar size and build spayed female. Only difference is color went from pure black to all gray and she also is a mouser. Likes to catch them, then bring them...

caught something strange on the trailcam

KDX 200? I ride a 1991 DR350. Told myself when I sold the 83 YZ490 my next dirt bike will have push button start. Low and behold I came across a great deal on a DR350 I couldn't pass up, but kick start only. I'm almost 59 but with proper jetting and start procedure usually starts 2nd or 3rd kick...

Frank, right click the image to save it. I save stuff to the desk top for easier finding. Open it in paint and you can resize it to read it better. Not perfect but it is readable. I'll still send the mag to you and again I don't need it back. Kevin

Reunited, and it feels so gooood!

Great story Geoff, I have a similar story myself, I purchased my 74 Challenger in 1997 from the original owner in 1997. The car was painted black at the time. It did run and drive but the trans. was not working well. His story goes when he returned from Vietnam in 1973 he wanted a Challenger in...
