Aftermarket shoulder belts for 68 barracuda convertible

Anyone out there have a good solution to get shoulder harnesses in a 68 barracuda convertible? Had a close call a while back when someone pulled out in front of me. It’s got me jumpy.

    1968 318 alternator suggestion

Thanks guys, I think I got what I need now that I had the "roundback" search term. I'm pretty sure I can just ground the second terminal, correct?

    1968 318 alternator suggestion

I purchased an alternator that the local auto parts store's website assured me would fit my car. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to....but it almost fits. Comparing it to the alternator I took out, it seems to have some extra features (circled) in the housing that rub up against the engine block...

68 barracuda 318 oil pressure reading

I just got my gauges working. Oil pressure seems to be reading a bit low. (See attached) I figure it should be in the middle somewhere. Before I go troubleshooting further, can anyone tell me what tick mark their oil pressure gauge reads normally?

I see we have similar cars. Fender tag on mine says original interior was blue. Someone at some point made it black. Was wondering what color your interior is. Big question: those side panels I posted about, if your interior is blue, are those panels also blue. Hard enough to find those...

[WANTED] 68 convertible rear side interior panels

Looking for rear interior side panels for a 1968 barracuda. Classic industries has some, but they are apparently for a Dart. Engine lags and stalls when initially pressing gas-Solution Found?!

I think I have it figured out. That bowl vent clip was sorta key. There isn't one in my carb, but probably supposed to be there. The accelerator pump was working (knew that before because saw gas being squirted in), but I think was probably adjusted so that it was flooding the engine. If...

Engine lags and stalls when initially pressing gas-Solution Found?!

I recently replaced the carb with a more correct carter 2 barrel (the one that was on there was not original, the one I bought looks right but didn't come with a tag) and am having some issues where the engine will lose power if I quickly press the gas. The faster I press the gas, the more...

Carter BBD type for 68 barracuda 318

Thanks for the advice. A quick question.. Can you show me a picture of what your choke thermostat looks like? I ordered one on rock auto (speaking of don't trust those computer programs) once and it came in looking like this. I had to order a different one like this. I think they changed...

Carter BBD type for 68 barracuda 318

Im not 100% sure what you mean by carb pad but I think this is what you want. Its a BBD for sure, not sure which specific kind. There is another thing I'm not sure about. two of the place to fasten the old car are for bolts and the others are studs. Not sure if that's normal or not, manual...

Carter BBD type for 68 barracuda 318

I looked it up once. From what I remember, its an original 318 in the original color, but the interior has been redone in black, because it was originally blue, including as you can see the engine compartment re-painted at some point. Carb is probably not unfixable, but sure a pain in the ***...

Carter BBD type for 68 barracuda 318

I have a 68 barracuda that I know no history on, but am pretty sure has had numerous changes/pseudo restoration. I was rebuilding the carb and screwed it up, so I'm looking to replace it, but its not obvious to me which carb is correct/will fit, and the pictures of parts I'm seeing online don't...

Found a Source for 10” rear drums with 1-3/4” shoe

I bought these from rock auto recently. They look to fit but there is a lip on the originals that fits over the brake mount on the rear diff, and there is not that on the centrix 123.63044(see pics) part. Have you had any issues with this? Does those pics match the drums you got?

Front Disc Conversion-Proportioning Valve and Master Cylinder

So I finally got it done. I ended up mounting the valve facing down inside of the frame behind the front driver side wheel well. This is right after the distribution block/brake warning light switch. I made myself a simple L bracket out of some 2" wide steel and drilled two holes to mount the...

Proportioning valve placement - disc conversion

If I mount a proportioning valve prior to the brake warning switch/distribution block, will that cause the switch to stay on. The switch works on pressure difference, so I assume mounting the value prior to that block will cause issues. I can also mount the proportioning value after the block...

SSBC rotor rubs on bolts for steering knuckle

This is genius. Went back and looked at instructions...pic posted below. They don't actually say to put the nuts back on. Thanks rusty.

SSBC rotor rubs on bolts for steering knuckle

Sultan, WA. Bolt shank and knuckle holes are the same size 1/2" fits pretty snugly. Just the width of the nuts seems to be the problem.

SSBC rotor rubs on bolts for steering knuckle

No, not yet anyway. Everything I've shown here is with the stock nuts and bolts. The stock bolts are a bit too short, and I think I will eventually need to get longer ones (after going through plate, only about 4 threads show through) That being said, the stock bolts heads/nuts are the same...

SSBC rotor rubs on bolts for steering knuckle

See linked video of the bolt going through the adapter plate from the outside-in, its hard to explain in words what I mean, but you can see it won't go all the way in because the plate is threaded and the threads of the bolt don't go to the top. What am I missing, something obvious no doubt?

SSBC rotor rubs on bolts for steering knuckle

Thanks for the reply. When I took apart the drums, the bolts were definitely put in from the rear. Backed up by service manual. As I said, the bolts aren’t threaded to the top of the bolt head, and the adapter plate is threaded, so putting them on from outside-in won’t work because the bolt...

SSBC rotor rubs on bolts for steering knuckle

I bought a W153 front disc brake conversion kit from SSBC. I was putting it together and found the bolts that hold the steering knuckle to the adapter plate and spindle rub on the rotor. I talked to their tech support and they told me that the bolts have to go in from the outside. I don't...

Front Disc Conversion-Proportioning Valve and Master Cylinder

I've started the kit, not yet mounted the prop valve, but ran into an issue with the brake discs rubbing on the lower ball joint mounting nuts. Tech support has been responsive but unable to help me out with it yet, saying they don't have problems with the kit typically and that I was putting...

Front Disc Conversion-Proportioning Valve and Master Cylinder

I have purchased an SSB-W153 front brake conversion kit, and was busy reading the instructions, and found out I need a different master cylinder and a proportioning valve. After digging into it appears to me that someone before me has already replaced the master cylinder with the one needed...
