Ok looks like I have some trouble shooting to do. Now with the idea of water in the tank...it is the original gas cap so that could be a cause for that. I have no clue how a clothes pin will work but I am absolutely gonna try it lol. And I’ll have to watch the choke on the car as idles.

Ok That seems like it might work because the line runs pretty close to the block.

My 225 slant runs good when cold but it starts to putt and misfire and eventually die when it gets up to temperature. Now I’m pretty sure it’s something related to a vapor lock, if you let the motor cool it’ll run fine again. ALSO I ran the car until it died and noticed the filter was no longer...

Well I’m thinkin maybe the new ballast resistor may be faulty on the run side of it. I know you have 12 volts at the coil when cranking and something like 5 when running. Gonna try to bypass the ballast resistor and see what happens. Something tells me it ain’t vacuum though.

When I say surge I mean it’ll sing up and die right away. Maybe I’m not describing it very well

I do have electronic choke but I took it off assuming that may be part of the problem

Oh and the ballast is brand new never used when the car ran could that possibly be faulty. It sounds like it could be that possibly.
