    What gets a car moving?

Could be to get the average fuel mileage better. You know car makes have a corporate average fuel economy to deal with the govt on. 8 speed will never lug or over rev the engine. Yes it keeps it in the power band at all times. Also the VVT makes these engines have way more useable power.

    What gets a car moving?

To muddy this further, newer cars have variable valve timing, VVT, which gives good useable power at any RPM. I drive a 30 years old gas mileage car with underpowered 4cyl. Driving away from red lights the new cars in the other lane just fly by like they are racing, and I'm in 2nd gear, but...

Remember riding a bike, changing the gears makes ALL the difference. When you have a low output engine gears are most important.

    AVS leak

These plugs on Carter's can be easily replaced. They come in some kits. And did you think about what's behind these plugs before you drill holes? These are air/fuel passages that don't need drill shavings or epoxy in them. The place for epoxy is on holleys where the metal of the carb is...

    Replacing my Intake Manifold Question

    Replacing my Intake Manifold Question

No, it won't get any more out of the block than opening the radiator drain. I showed you photo proof of this. Water runs down hill. That lower hose isn't holding any coolant after you drain the radiator.

    Replacing my Intake Manifold Question

Come on guys THINK. The block does not need to be drained to remove the intake. Photo one shows the coolant level in the engine of you drain the radiator. It is to the bottom of those holes. Photo 2 shows an engine with the heads on and no intake. You can plainly see that there will be...

    Replacing my Intake Manifold Question

You will be fine, draining the radiator will get the coolant low enough so you won't have any spill when removing the intake. If you remove heads it will be a big mess without draining the block.

    741 x housing

741 is plenty strong, especially for a street driven vehicle. It is bigger than a stock 9" ford.

    741 x housing

What are you putting it in? Or is it staying in the pickup? Tapered axles are a pain in the rear. I own 3 in old cars. Life is much easier with a flanged axle.

How do I get the ash tray to stay closed?

Yep there is a spring loaded tang that you depress to get it out, and it's not there. Also a rod going crosswise in the bracket for it to engage with. Get/make a wood wedge and slide in the gap down low to keep it shut for now. What is the year and model of your car? Surprisingly they changed...

    440 purchase

Your engine looks good from the outside, it wasn't sitting in the rain. CH4B has value and it's a good unit to use if you want to. It has 1964 426 street wedge chrome valve covers, too bad they dented the pass side one, but it's to the rear so not as noticeable. Those ribs on the side don't do...
