Front and rear screen seals - quality matters

Steele don’t list a rear for the car. Is the glass in any other ABody the same, Dart maybe?

Front and rear screen seals - quality matters

Sorry I should have put year - it’s a ‘68 2dr. I was looking on the Dante page and whilst the front is 139 or 169, the rear is 100+ more. By the stiff state of the rubbers front and rear and the delamination of the front screen, if they aren’t original they’re very old - and muddy under the...

Front and rear screen seals - quality matters

the front screen needs replacing on the Valiant and I’ve done a good deal of forum searching (some threads go way back!) so, in 2024 who is held to be the supplier of the best quality seals for front and rear screens? And why is the rear screen so much more expensive?!

Apologies for the slight hijack, saw this comment and I have been searching for similar - are there drain runs in corners of the screen opening then?

    Australian Market Valiant windshields

The windshield in my ‘68 Valiant (2dr sedan) is starting to ‘bloom’ - going cloudy around the edges. There is a screen from an Australian VG model available nearby. Any idea of the suitability for use in my car? Cheers

Deciding on replacement intake (318, details in post)

Yeah, the car pulls well for what I want - that’s not been an issue. Im curious more than anything to know what it’s making so some dyno time is in order. Would also benefit from some carb tuning no doubt - that’s beyond me, I need to learn about it

Well it look longer to get round to than hoped but I managed to get the compression figures. All 160 or close enough, the gauge is in 5psi increments and the needle was either tipped just under or over the mark. Warm engine (idling 15 mins) Now who would like to do the math :D

    A-body Inner wings

out of curiosity, do certain A-Body cars share the same inner wings? Ie Duster and Valiant of the same year, Dart and Valiant of the same year? Is it just the exterior panels which differ?

Deciding on replacement intake (318, details in post)

Well that escalated  Compression test results to follow some point over the festive period measured up and its possible to keep the tunnel ram, do away with the velocity stacks and fit a hood scoop - bit that comes with its’ own ups and downs. Merry Christmas/happy holidays

Deciding on replacement intake (318, details in post)

Food for thought. Expanding on the conversation then, I will get compression readings over Xmas. I cannot comment on the state of tune of the tunnel and carbs as do not know how well it is set up, a dyno run would give that info and tbh I hadn’t considered it. How well would a cross ram intake...

From what I’ve been able to find out the tunnel ram was added some time afterwards by a subsequent owner. I certainly appreciate your point, the basis behind the question was with this in mind. No idea what the heads flow.

It’s ok he makes a fair point, I’ve done some searching through the posts before asking the question. I’ve got time over the festive break to do a compression test, which I will do as it’s good to have the clarity but given how the car pulls I’m not expecting low c/r. :)

Online suppler for trim screws, clips, seals etc

I am working around the car sorting out the rattles where screws, clips etc have been lost over the years. Are there any recommended suppliers for things like headlamp bezel screws, U clips and also door/trunk seals? (1968 Valiant) Thanks

    18x7 front wheel backspace/offset help

I have the chance to pick up some 7x18 4 1/4” backspace (et6)wheels for my 68 Signet. Front hubs are the ‘dreaded’ Wilwood conversions, but I have both the centre bore measurement and mounting face to centre cap measurement which will accommodate the hub sizes. Where I am unsure is where in...

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Was it necessary to space it by the full 1 1/4” ? I ask as I’ve got the same brake set up on my Valiant (‘68) and I’m looking to pick up some wheels but choices are limited over here so I’m trying to figure out what backspace I’d need.

Just found this thread whilst doing a search. Did you space purely for positioning in the arch or did you need to space away from the caliper?

    Misc. interior questions

I thought it better to ask all at once. Interior is a ‘68 valiant, was originally a 6 cyl column shift auto with bench seat, changed to 318 4 spd by a PO. 1. Are there different mount points on the floor of versions that came with bucket seats? 2. What are these boxes called that presumably...
