Horizontal push button shifter on an A body

Pretty cool, like the black color, too. They really did a lot to make the Lancer "upscale" when it launched in '61, the dash design is similar to the more expensive B and C bodies, but by '62 they pretty much matched the Valiant. When I was driving my '62 Valiant in the 70's thought the...

Horizontal push button shifter on an A body

Saw what is evidently a '61 Lancer dash on a car for sale today (was advertised as a '65 Dodge Valiant). Had a completely different instrument panel from the 60-61 Valiants and '62 Valiant and Lancer, with horizontal row of buttons and wide rectangular speedo. Had never seen this one off, one...

Got told about these two A-bodies that are being sold Not Mine

So many pics posted that I can't see them all, download too slow. Possible to post a link to seller's ad with pics? Anyone heard of a four speed torque flight with overdrive? Sounds like more salesman babble. Looked at a '62 Valiant on Craigslist in N. Vancouver but distance and potential...

    Parting out A-Bodies

Are the chinese making fenders, IDK? I know the old A bodies are super popular in South America and Mexico, as well. Labor is a big issue in the US, seems like one of these companies could find a mfr overseas if not already doing that, would require some quality control.

    Parting out A-Bodies

Have to agree parts cost and shipping are getting "out of sight". I just paid $900 to ship the two back seat parts from a '62 Signet cross-country, and they fit in two std bicycle cartons. One additional source of cheap parts not specifically mentioned is FB Marketplace. Its a real hassle...

    1962 Valiant Signet 200

I would like to know if anyone successfully resleeved one. We used to do this with Chevy Vegas due to same head gasket issues, original engine would last up to 50K miles, no idea how long the re-sleeved engines lasted. Might be OK for race or seldom drivers.

    WIW 62 Lancer

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The Lancer with its pointed hood and bumper, and disjointed grille with floating headlights just never appealed to me. I always liked the prominent shield-shaped grille of the Valiant, similar to the big Chryslers of that era, and even the 300 of more...

    WIW 62 Lancer

I froze your video, looks like 55,931 which has got to be accurate miles with an aluminum block still in it. Probably what parked it if not the rust. No idea what the parts are worth, not a lot of commonality with Valiant body and dash parts, while they would fit have a different appearance...

    WIW 62 Lancer

Compared to the Valiant, those lancers had a face only a mother could love! Some like 'em though. I think Wildcat Auto Salvage in Sandy, OR has 4 or 5 project lancers on their web site for sale. Going to stop by next week if they are open, heard owners may be gone to Mexico.

I think the Lancer wagon in Kansas is a lot better shape, but its a 170. Was carried for, interior still good, and at $1500 a pretty good deal. Messenger

    WIW 62 Lancer

How many miles on that aluminum block, at least on the odometer? Curious how long it went since head gasket failure was almost certain on these. Kinda reminds me of the Chevy Vega, we used to resleeve them regularly at the machine shop I worked at in the late '70s. They were generally a 50K...

    1962 Valiant Signet 200

The '62 I had in the 70's had an aluminum block. It had head gasket issues for years, overheating if grandpa drove it more than a few miles. It would be extremely rare to find one of those as they were a defective design and would start leaking once they had some miles and/or a few years on...

[FOR SALE] '62 Lancer Station Wagon Project Car in Kansas (not mine)

Saw this pretty original, straight Lancer wagon on FB Marketplace: 1962 Dodge lancer wagon · 170? Lowered price recently to $1500. Motivated seller willing to consider trade. Says two owner never been wrecked/abused. Looks to be in good shape, said running/driving when parked. At that price...

Early A body bucket seat interchangeability

Ok, a lot of the a body parts are interchangeable but unfortunately not the ones I need. Thanks for responding, you don't know if you don't ask.

Early A body bucket seat interchangeability

Good information. I asked a nearby seat seller to measure front to back and side to side on his seat studs. The pair he has to sell are from a '65 Barracuda. Matthon just repaired his floor pans on a '62 Signet with factory buckets so will ask him about measurements, but they may have added...

Early A body bucket seat interchangeability

Want to change front bench to buckets on my '62 V200 coupe, can I use '64 buckets or any A-body seats through '69, e.g. Not sure how much the floor pan seat mounts changed over the years and want to do a bolt-in replacement if at all possible. Also trying to keep original bucket look so only...

Looking at collecting 60-62 Valiant, in Texas

Well, found a 62 Valiant V200 2-dr in Las Vegas, good body, one rusted quarter panel at very bottom, no other underside rust, lots of "sun tan" inside and out. Will be looking for a set of bucket seats, dash speaker grill, original radio, heater control, and belt trim behind driver's door...

[WANTED] Wanted 60-62 Valiant Decent Condition Project Car, Consider next gen Convertible or Barracuda

I've seen the Lancer, have scoured all sources I can find but just started on this forum. Never been a fan of the Lancer because of the grille and instrument panel trim compared to the Valiant. Otherwise pretty similar, though. I'm biased since a '62 sedan was my first car and the family...
