New Lower Steering Column Bearing Kit (in development)

Also, there is a hard speed limit with stuff like this... I tried for days to get it to print faster, but it was just not working well for strength. Any time you print really fast, the layer adhesion plummets. I really wanted an x1 Carbon, but then I saw a test somewhere, showing that high speed...

New Lower Steering Column Bearing Kit (in development)

The real trick with mine was getting the machine to allow high temps. Had to compile my own firmware.

okay, so I need to move my holes. This is actually a good thing, because the bearing will be more secured into the tube.

New Lower Steering Column Bearing Kit (in development)

It is FDM. I wish I could do resin for detail, but those materials can't compete with this. The machine use to be an Ender 5 Plus, but there is not much of the original unit now. Aftermarket motherboard, extruder/hotend assembly, z axis ball screws, enclosure, slide bearings, and a lot more. The...

New Lower Steering Column Bearing Kit (in development)

Thanks for checking! You are the second one, but I wasn't too confident in the last persons measurements. One dimension I don't think I have written down on the spec sheet, is the OD of the tube. Kind of nice to see that I can reach tolerances of 0.002" with this printer. Just received the...

New Lower Steering Column Bearing Kit (in development)

I have posted a similar part in forums on here recently, and there was more interest in it than I thought there would be. If its going to be something I offer for purchase, I thought I should make something a little more up to finished product standards. This is almost a complete redesign of...

    67 steering column kit?

I think that would work for a temporary solution, but I've been wrong many times. I think a bushing would wear quickly in this application. Also thought a roller bearing could work, but that's transferring the wear to the shaft. There are other ideas im playing with, but if this works, it's the...

    67 steering column kit?

I could do just the retainer, if it matches the dimensions on your bearing. The whole set would be the retainer, bearing, two set screws, and two nuts. I was planning $55+ shipping. Could do half for the retainer. Wish I could do less, and it still be worth it... I know people think all 3d...

    67 steering column kit?

That's a good kit, if you want a full rebuild kit. What I'm making is going to be just the lower bearing assembly, and less than half that price.

    Steering column advise

I may be able to help, if you need the lower steering column bearing. Made this for a guy a while back, and it seemed to work for him, only issue was the pocket for the bearing. He said it was 2", and it ended up being 52mm which is 2.047", so he had some sanding to do... easy fix on my end...

    67 steering column kit?

Working on a 67 Barracuda lower steering column bearing kit. I made one for a guy a while back, and thought I should see if its needed. Made out of fiber reinforced nylon, in a high temp printer.
