My motor is an 05 car engine, (I’ve swapped to the later coils/valve covers for looks) Mine has had cam and long tubes with 6.1 valvesprings and pushrods since I first fired it up 4 years ago. It now has Eagle heads and 6.1 intake... Even with the cam/longtubes it still ran out of power about...

I made some changes this year and picked up a bit. Thought I’d update. 67 dart, early 5.7 with 5.7 eagle heads and 6.1 intake. FAST EFI, comp 268 cam, 200r4 trans with 3400 stall, 4.10 gears. Raced at Bandimere in Denver. 12.58 @ 106. That’s 4/10’s and 3 mph from a eagle head and intake...

I think he’s never been able to get the NAG-1 functioning well enough to drive... sweet car for sure...

Looking for a drivers side hood hinge. Mine gave up the ghost, end while prepping for the gas strut swap I discovered mine is slightly bent. I’m guessing this played a part in the failure so I’m looking for a new one! Joe

The 5.7 and 5.9 are totally different platforms. The 5.9 is a magnum LA engine. Basically the same as a traditional small block. Somewhat better heads, roller cam, and different intake bolt pattern. It Will bolt up to small block trans/headers and accessory stuff like that. The 5.7/6.1 and...

2012 5.7 is a great platform. The heads flow REALLY well stock, they can be ported for gains, but it’s not cheap... Long tube headers and a cam will give you a really good bump. The cam swap requires VVT lockout I believe. I’d look at comp cams, inertia motorsports or modern muscle xtreme...

Is your car drums or disc? If it’s the SBP disc I believe can swap rotors from a similar age mustang. There is a very good thread someplace about it. If I remember correctly though it still involved machining the rotor a bit to fit the bearing or or caliper or something Sticky thread right in...

What motor are you talking? There are different port size/shape based on engine and year. I have a early 5.7 and 6.1 factory intakes I could get you some measurements of port spacing and stuff with pics if that would help...

Stamped rockers = less accuracy and precision for valve movement. Not to mention I believe if you upgraded “later” you’d be buying pushrods again.. It sucks but wait until you have the coin and buy nice stuff...

Like SG said, don’t get the cart ahead of the horse... the shake of the motor isn’t normal in my eyes either, but the soot could be something simple. start small, little stuff like checking to see if all the header tubes are hot, (dead plug) or looking for a bad plug wire, slipped distributor...
