the Lokar instruction said to push gas pedal all the way down, then pull kickdown wire all the way out to pull kick down lever all the way, then tighten the wire stop down, then check to make sure everything is working! is that correct?
ok thanks! I went a head and hooked the kick down cable up! wish I had done that before I installed the headers and power brakes though! what a pain trying to get my hands up in there. I had to have my wife put her hand in there to start the nut on the kick down arm! if she could not have done...
Kim, I made it work! I had to fab up a new bracket for tranny side, drill and tap tranny ear 5/8-11 and install 7/16-20 insert with red Loctite. I also had to make some special brass washers for linkage and a brass bushing for steering column arm!
I knew that was available, but I was trying to find a complete harness! they sell one for standard trans at classic but not for the auto trans! so in the mean time I had already ordered it from EBAY! thanks anyways! well at least I still have the plug (end) that goes into bulkhead connecter!
after a little modification to the bracket I made, drilling and tapping ear 5/8-11 on tranny and installing 7/16-20 carbon insert into ear, I was able to mount bracket I made to ear so that I could install shift linkage! now I will have to put it to the test! I have not installed shift arm into...
it came with car when I bought it! just assuming it is from this car! it also looks just like the picture of linkage in service manual! it is the linkage with arms I am trying to use, in picture!
I am trying to install my column shift linkage in my 70 Duster but am having a problem with the bracket that mounts to transmission not having enough room to go on! (not enough room between tranny ear and car body) and even if I would lower the back of transmission to install bracket, it would...
I would start with checking your bushing and the rod ends for wear! if they are not worn you can make thin washers (.010/.020) to go between clip and linkage arm. New bushings can be bought at "PARTS MIX"
Ok! Thanks! well since I am putting in a floor shifter I guess I will not need to install those parts! But I probably will need the throttle cable Bracket!
I have some parts that I believe came off of my Duster, (that I did not take apart) (MY FIRST MOPAR) and I am not sure where or what they are for! Can any one tell what they are for buy looking at them? Bill
