That happened to my /6 and it was the coil. After it heated up, it was hard to start and ran rough. Put a new coil in, start first turn of the key. Runs smooth.

70's flashback

A member of my car club made the video, I can't take credit he does a great job doing these for our club events.

We went up as a club and contacted him a couple of weeks prior. Maybe if you and some of your friends give a call and arrange a tour of the yard. That might be the best way to get a look inside. He was very hospitable.

I will be upgarding all front end rubber parts. Hopefully converting the front to disc(Maybe, money is tight). New shocks and leaf springs. I would like to find some rallee wheels and get new treads.
