Thanks for your advice everyone. I will call comp and hopefully i will get a little more help than when I emailed them. It looks like the kits comes with the 901 springs, seals, locks, etc. The cam extreme energy 262 was what I saw used in a magazine build of a stock 318. Car is a 70 dart 4...

Will this comp cams kit require machine work?

Hello The motor is a stock 1970 318. I see comp cams has a kit with the cam, lifters, springs, etc as a matched kit. My question is, can this installation be done with the heads still on the car or would machine work be required to install the springs or seals? the kit is...

is it worth installing cam in stock 318?

thanks again for all the helpful insight. the engine just turned 40k miles and has never been rebuilt, including the heads. This deal is kind of a temporary thing until there is time and money to do something better. We have a 360 block and rebuilt magnum heads and eddy magnum air gap, for down...

is it worth installing cam in stock 318?

Hello With money being tight right now does this plan make sense to do. Car is 70 dart 4 speed 3.55 gears. Stock 318 small valve heads, stock exhaust manifolds. we have an edelbrock performer manifold and 600cfm carb and dual exhaust on it now. Question is, until we can do something with...

    Bolt Ons

I just put 3.55 gears in my 1970 dart. Car has 245/60/15 tires and 4 speed. I am very pleased with this choice. To me its the best compromise for acceleration and highway cruising. Never used this ratio before and the car is just a cruiser but couldn't be happier.

    carbs

Another vote for the edlebrock 600cfm 1406. I have had it on my stock 318 with edelbrock intake. Also dual exhaust and electronic ignition. Took about half an hour to set it up and have not touched it once on 6 years. Run consisitant, get good mileage, and I never smell gas.

gaskets for 318 magnum head conversion?

Hello All Trying to get a parts list together for this project. Since it's an old engine all the gaskets and seals are going to get replaced. Which brings me to my questions. I think the intake manifold must be the magnum type, are there any others that are mag instead of LA? Do you all...

    head pipes for small block

Hello, Still trying to decide whether to use the 340 hi perf exhaust manifolds or the hooker 5901 headers I have for my 318. It will have magnum heads and its a 4 speed power steering dart. What size headpipes can be used with the 340 manifolds and does someone sell them mandrel bent that fit...
