This is a question for my own curiousity, what cfm would the original Thermoquad have on a 79 360? I believe on a 340 it was 800 cfm and on the 318 it was 520 cfm.

That was another option my friend was tossing around, just get the original rebuild.

Thank you R.R.R for the response, you being a carb rebuilder what 4bl carb would you recommend? other then the Carter for this guys 79 with the original 360 that has no modifications whatsoever.

I'm posting this thread on behalf of my friend who is not a member. He owns a 1979 Little Red Express with a 360, its has the factory 4bl Thermoquad. He wants to know if there is an adaptor available which will allow him to run a Holley or Edelbrock carb on the factory intake manifold.

Never had problems with any Holley I've run to date so far.

Is the only thing between the fuel filler tube inside the trunk compartment and the quarter panel where its butts up to, a white squishy foam gasket? as pictured on another car.

I used some dishwashing soap around the seal and the tank slide on with no problems, otherwise you'll never get it on, especially if the seal is new.

Not as good an fuel but realy, who drives muscle cars expecting to get great fuel milage? Very true

Cool thanks for the responses, I'll see how it performs over the next little while, just had it tuned and car seems to be running 100% better with the adjustment. If the gas mileage is way beyond brutal then I'll re-access doing a carb swap at some point.
