removing 225 /6 from Auto Trans.

Good point regarding clearance. Limited space up front would ad to the potential for damaging something. I am not sure how many inches needed to clear the converter from the spline.

removing 225 /6 from Auto Trans.

Thank you for that. The piston rod broke, engine is seized and I can't turn the crank to get to the other 2 bolts on the flywheel. Can't get the oil pan off (to free up broken rod) without dropping steering linkage. But I hear what you are saying, so I will do what I have to. Thanks again.

removing 225 /6 from Auto Trans.

Hello FABO, I am pulling the engine out of my '63 Valiant, leaving the automatic trans in the car. Someone suggested that I had to remove the bolts holding the fly wheel to the engine. But shouldn't the fly wheel and torque converter slide right off the transmission spline with the engine...

    Severe timing /cam issue

Thank you all for the input. Yep, I believe that I don't need to do any more investigating to know this engine is retiring. Had originally hoped it was a timing/bent valve sort of issue. Maybe the car is ready to be put to rest. Thanks again

Poor compression in one cylander at idle.

Thank you for all the input. Sounds like some engine work soon. Just in case, we will continue to run some additive, such as 'Mechanic in a Can' or Rislone in hopes of freeing up a tight ring or ?. Does any one have a high reccomendation FOR (or AGAINST) any one of the oil addatives that are...

Poor compression in one cylander at idle.

Stange situation. My daughters '63 Valiant has fairly consistant compression (125-130) on all but 1 cylinder, which is down at about 90. At idle the cylinder is missing, but it kicks in around 2000 rpm. Carbon build-up, sticky rings or worn cam were suspected. A local mechanic (who knows the...

    /6 temp sending unit

I am in need of a temp sending unit for my '63 valiant. I am getting poor info.from typical parts suppliers. It should be a simple, standard part. Engine and guages on the car are stock. Is there a part number and or brand I can request? Thanks, Rjg
