    1973 360

I highly doubt it apparently he's shopping for a car for a few years, while asking the whole time how to hop a 318 over and over again for the eventual purchase but guess now were moving on up to a 360 for this year, maybe next year we graduated to big blocks :)

    1973 360

The other main thing that held the factory 360 and even 318 back was cylinder heads. The reason 273 & 340 were the factory revvers, is that they had similar head flow per cid, if 318 came standard with the 1.88 360 head and 360 came with something like an SM or Edlebrock heads they all would...

    2 barrel to 4 barrel

I get what you were saying, my point if highway ain’t apart of your driving then you could be pretty open to run any gear. Maybe it’s where I live just outside of Toronto, I could go my whole life without the need for the highway. When I do take it I’m on there 15-20 minutes max. Seems to be...

    2 barrel to 4 barrel

Depends if you really do any highway driving ? For intown I wouldn't mind 4.xx gears, right now I got 2.xx gears, I rarely shift into 3rd, I use my trans more like a 2 speed power glide with an OD. In second I can cruse 30-40 mph which is functioning like a 4-4.26.

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

I don't know how thick is a sleeve is but you would have to bore a 318 0.130" + whatever the sleeve is make more sense to sleeve a worn out 340 block or Just bore a 360 0.040" and get some crank spacers for 3.31". or just say your 340 stroked to a 367.

Yes and you could of answered most of your questions with just a Google search, (like most of us do) and your asking a very particular question about an engine your don't have or seem to have any interest in and even if you did doesn't seem like you plan on doing a rebuild and you had answer in...

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

We use to have the tailpipe test but because of our winters causing cars to rot, most drive fairly new cars so garage's weren't making enough money off of it, so it's gone for now.

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

Far as I know Chevy changed whatever year from 2.30" to 2.45" mains not that a car 327 came with 2.30" and a truck 327 came with 2.45".

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

I bet if they had ready to go short blocks to go for each of the popular top end choices in that market, they would be in higher demand with credit card builders.

    360 Cam suggestions

Do have an ballpark idea ? Pretty much could make an argument to use cams from like 224 to 250 or so, I'd say around 235 give or take cut on 108 to 110 lsa, .500 to .550 lift.

What cam to use in a 318

Not knocking DV but he's just one of many engine builders out there none of them agree 100% or know a 100% of anything and anyone can have patents, it's not a good argument for or against anything. But the talk of his patent got me interested what they were, these are what I found. Patents...
