i hate it when i get wrong parts......

need new pushrods for a friends build, 5/16" ball / cup with around 9.35" overall length. So i checked online, summit lists comp 7432-16 as 3/8" diameter, 9.4" OAL, 5/16" ball / cup --> that´ll work. Ok, shop here has these available, today i got these.....to find out that the pushrods have 3/8"...

Cam Button how to.....next question: how to measure cam endplay?

Hi, i put a .039" sheet metal in between tc and wp, much more rigid now. But getting the endplay right is a Pita.....WP and cover on, check endplay....remove, file.....repeat. Got it correct finally (after messing one button up ;-)) Michael

Oil Pump Pick up - Clearance to stroker crank??

Hi Guys, another question regarding my first stroker big block.....the 440source internal oil pick up does interfere with the 4.25" Crank / rod (440source 512 Kit). I ground the pick up down, now there´s clearance a little more than 0.056" - is this considered enough? Thanks for your feedback!

Cam Button how to.....next question: how to measure cam endplay?

yes, i´ll do that possibly. the stock cover is pretty weak, don´t know if it´s able to keep control of the cams movement. Thanks at all!

Cam Button how to.....next question: how to measure cam endplay?

correct about the rear plug.....the plugs were already in and i prefered not to mess with anything on this thing. maybe there´s a chance to access from the valley, with some feeler gauges against a magnetic base or so....have to get creative, thought there must be a solution available....

Cam Button how to.....next question: how to measure cam endplay?

ok, got the cam installed and degreed in. Btw, between the crank, the gearset and the cam there was a 5° difference to the intake centerline it should have.....now another question: how to check endplay with the stock timing chain cover? Where do i measure? Sorry for dumb questions, SB guy here...

Cam Button how to.....next question: how to measure cam endplay?

Hi Guys, got a Hydraulic Roller cam for the 512 i´m building at the moment, cam button necessary. I got the Comp 206 cam button, it says for mopar B / RB / Hemi. Installation is not possible, the 3 screws for the timing gear are in the way....even if i use allen screws it wont fit in the center...

    Distributor drive Gear

Hi Guys, got a howards hydraulic roller cam, found out now that it´s made of billet steel. Is there a composite drive gear available for the big block? I´m not a big fan of the bronze drive gear.....have no experience up til now with it, just want to avoid trouble since this engine is for a...

Cam button / stock timing chain cover

Hi Guys, is the stock timing chain cover sufficient / strong enough when a roller cam is used? I plan to use a hydraulic roller in a 512, have got the comp cams 206 cam button to ride on the cover. Small block guy doing this swap the first time, so any information is appreciated. Thanks! Michael

    rod bearing clearance

Feedback from 440source: "spec is .0015" to .003", i prefer .002" to .003"." So even if it´s within spec, it seems a little tight. I´ll double check my measurements, and if still in doubt i´ll order the bearings with .001" extra clearance to be safe. hopefully these are not too loose then ;-)...

    rod bearing clearance

Good Morning.....thanks for your feedback. I think they use chevy rods in this kits....so there should not be a problem getting different bearings. But as most of you suggested, i´ll run it as is. Thanks! Michael

    rod bearing clearance

Hi Guys, building a 512 for a friend with a 440 block and a 440source kit. I checked the crank and the rods, there´s only 0,0016" clearance - is this enough? As far as i know it should be 0.002 - 0.003" clearance at the rod bearings. Thanks for feedback! Michael

Hi, read over at moparts an interesting thread regarding this topic. AndyF´s information steered me towards the howards cam 723445-08 wich i chose for a 512 ci street cruiser build with TF 240 heads (B-Body station wagon)...
