Afternoon project? 1973+ bumper reinforcment removal for weight reduction...worth it?

If I recall, that chunk of steel weighed about 40 pounds. It just bolts into place so the physical removal is not difficult. The only problem with removing it is the big gap it will leave between the bumper and the grill. I was considering using a piece of aluminum to replace it. I expect...

    Another Trunk Weatherstrip Question

I'm trying to install the newer "D" type trunk weatherstrip on my 73 Dart Sport. No old weatherstrip so I don't have any reference to work from on how it goes in (and, of course, the new stuff doesn't come with instructions). I've searched and found a bunch of pics of the older "Y" style but...

    HOOD PROP QUESTION

When I put the hinged six pack hood on my RR, I just measured what length I needed then went to the wrecking yard and searched until I found the right length hood prop. Cheap and easy!

    Bumper Bolt Question

Thanks guys. The holes do line up with the bumper brackets if it makes any difference. Did the bumperettes just use the one hole per side?

    Bumper Bolt Question

On my 73 Dart Sport 340, the two top inner bolt holes are round, about 3/4" diameter instead of the square holes for the shoulder bolts. All the bumper bolts I've seen have the square shoulders. Does anybody know what these bolts are supposed to like and where to get them? Thanks, Foster.

what purpose does this hole serve ?

There is what's called an Orifice Spark Advance Control (OSAC) valve that bolts over that hole. It's part of the smog equipment, used to reduce NOx and reduces the vacuum advance when the engine gets hot.

    rear spoiler choices?

Dale's Cuda shop advertises their spoilers (they have both go wing and gull wing styles) as faithful reproductions. I don't have experience with their spoilers but the stuff I have gotten has been pretty good.

Moonroof won't "lift" at the back in closed position

That's why I don't like relying on my memory LOL. It's the mount that's on the pivot and not the roller. Sorry but I'm out of ideas at this point.

Moonroof won't "lift" at the back in closed position

I'm not sure what you mean by gasket. Layson's has a couple of the weatherstrip pieces. If you're talking about the trim piece that goes around the hole from the inside of the car to cover the edges, good luck on that. I've got one that's only in so so shape that I'm going to have to dye and...

Moonroof won't "lift" at the back in closed position

Well that's not good as I think the only thing left is to take the roof back apart. If I recall correctly, the rollers are mounted on a pivot. The only thing I can imagine left would be that the rollers are pivoted towards the back of the roof and they need to be towards the front...

Moonroof won't "lift" at the back in closed position

Finally found the link. If you go down several posts, there's a reference to the pdf of the manual. the word "heres" is the link. If you still have problems, I've got a spare assembly I could snap a couple of pics from if I can figure out how to post them. Good luck...

Moonroof won't "lift" at the back in closed position

It looks like your problem is the springs aren't over the roller. That straight piece of spring steel goes over the roller. Right now the roller is set back to where the spring isn't near it so it looks like you may have the cables reversed side to side. I'll look to see if I can find the...

Moonroof won't "lift" at the back in closed position

Also, if you don't already have it, someone here posted an excerpt from the shop manual for the sunroof. It was for 75 but they're pretty much the same.

Moonroof won't "lift" at the back in closed position

For the back, I think the first thing to check, is to make sure the spring is on top of the rear guide roller. I know mine was missing parts so the first time I put it together, I didn't get this right. The spring helps force it up. I can't remember for sure, but I think there may be a little...

Moonroof won't "lift" at the back in closed position

What pops it up in back is a small ramp on a stamped steel piece that the cable goes under. If the roof is a little misaligned, it may not be pulling far enough forward to pull the it all the way up those little ramps. When you installed the cables, did you make sure they were equidistant on...

    HELP Windshield Wiper Retainer Bushing

Hard to tell exactly from the pic but they do look pretty much like that. They are made of a semi-hard plastic so there's a little (not much) give to them to slip onto the linkage.

73 Dart Sport Sunroof Drain Tubes

Does anybody know how these are routed? I can see the front ones go down behind the sheet metal below the A pillar but I can't see where they come out. I'd rather not pull the fenders if I can get away with it. Rear ones are gone but it looks like they go behind the sheet metal behind the C...
