    New noname early headers ?

If the flanges looked decent, one could cut them up and make them work. But they look horrible and no mention of what gauge stainless they used. Prob burn right through that crap. OP, do you weld? They can be made. Larry:glasses7:

    63 tail lite

I figured someone striped them out and stuck some wood screws in there. Im also wondering if ya can put a real 63 lens back in there now if the holes are in a difernt spot (I was told thay were). I thought you where parting it out? Maybe not. But if so, I'll take the lights. How much? If they...

    63 tail lite

Guess the light! Just enjoyed the challenge of figuring out what the hell they came from while drinking some java this morning. I swear I thought they were from a Ferd Falcon so I had to look. Don't stress the little things. They will make great shop art!.. or targets! Larry :glasses7:

    New noname early headers ?

X2 and as someone else wisely pointed out, these will Never seal with those ports. X2 I wouldn't even hack them up and try to make them fit with that header flange. Larry :glasses7:

Right vintage, wrong make. I think those are Impala tail lights modded to fit. Neat 60's custom trick though! Larry :glasses7:

Tips and Pics of custom headers

Didn't sound bad. I kind of like it, just couldn't get past the look. A lot quieter in the car than the turn downs. I tipped up the tips a little when I was farting around with the side pipes and learned quick to make sure no one was standing next to the car when I goosed the throttle. The...

Tips and Pics of custom headers

I tried the side pipe thing too and hated it. Tried split tips, oval tips and slash cut tips and none of it looked right. I went with turn downs kicked out just a little bit and I'm good with that. Minis and spring relo on mine as well with frame cons. Keep the photos coming! Larry :glasses7:

They look beautiful! Can't wait to see them in copper! Almost time to listen to them. Got a plan for the rest of the exhaust? X or H pipe? Muffs? Very nice work! :glasses7: Larry

Tips and Pics of custom headers

Sweet bead! :supz: A lot to be said about some seat time. Practice makes perfect! Do you have someone in mind for the thermal coating and what type of finish? I went with the flat silver as the chrome like finish required polishing every inch after they were coated. The flat silver has not...

Tips and Pics of custom headers

Lookin good! So your going to use a slip fit collector I assume so you can remove them when needed? Mine are definitely multi-piece. I built mine with the mini starter installed. I don't have to remove the starter to install the d/s header but I have not tried to remove the starter with the...

Tips and Pics of custom headers

I would think there is a bit more air flow lower around the steering gear than above the pipes near the master but very good point pishta. The box mounted to the frame and packed with grease should dissipate heat well, at least better than my master sitting right above my pipes. I will have to...

Tips and Pics of custom headers

I have a Schumacher torque strut mounted up and it really helps keep things solid. Kind of tough to see but right in front of #1 cyl. I'll get you a better photo. Mine are 1 7/8 primary tubes so I know you can make them fit! Larry

Tips and Pics of custom headers

Thanks Pishta! The original headers I chopped up were like your drawing on the drivers side. Once I started mocking them up there was so much room in front of the steering gear and K frame it just made sense to stick the #1 and #3 pipe there. It was one less pipe to try and stuff under the...

Tips and Pics of custom headers

Glad to see your back on your header project! You are correct with the hurdles you have. Mine is an auto, so no clutch linkage to fart with. Definitely keep in mind the hydraulic line from the slave/master if you go that route. I ran my rear brake line through my interior to my adjustable prop...

Late A headers on an early A (smallblock)

I think the tight spots are the same regardless of what headers you try in an early A. I chopped up later headers, Headman Hustlers and made it work. Steering linkage, column, PS(not), starter, oil filter, master cyl, and a 727 had to be cleared... or moved. Mini starter, remote oil filter...

    shorty header

Thanks for the heads up! Your right, the header bolts are black oxide (for now). LOL Jim at his little shop Mesa Color here in Durango is a friend and with that came the "Bro" deal so no warranty was offered or implied. If there was ever a problem with the work he did he would make it right. I...

    shorty header

High temp powder coating in and out from the local P.C. shop. (sorry Leanna) I went with the flat silver rather than the shinny one that would have required buffing. I did the cross-over as well. For me it looks like all the models I built as a kid. I always painted the exhaust Testers silver! I...

    shorty header

I found some used tube headers, donors, cheepo's and modified. No cheep way to deal with of the shelf headers. Like RRR and others said, 1000's $ and you have to beat them to fit? ..WRONG! No thanks, Not too hard, but shorty's (block huggers) will work with mods..and they're relatively cheep...

    Another header questions... Sorry

See photos of the tight tubes. Did you already install the 727? If so, you must of modified the tunnel for it to fit, right? My '63 runs a 727 and it took some work to get it in. I can see why you would want to stick with it if it's already installed. The right front corner of the 727 pan/case...

what aluminum intake -- hood clearance issues

Just as a reference my '63 runs an old Weiand 7507 similar to their new Stealth. 1''+ or so taller than my old Eddy Performer. AFB on 1'' spacer. I planed for a scoop but hoods not done yet and I wanted to drive it so I made a drop base and use a one piece full air cleaner cover assy. It doesn't...

'63 Dart (maybe Valiant) firewall mod.

By that you mean hot rod the /6 wiper motor? Right! LOL! Once you get under your dash you'll see there is quite a bit of space up there. For the small amount of material that needs to be removed for dizzy clearance, I think you could remount it and it won't be off much from where it was. This...

'63 Dart (maybe Valiant) firewall mod.

I went this route, goofy as it was. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=243732 I think if I had the skills at the time I would have went for the "humpectomy"! Re mounting the wiper motor using the stock horseshoe stud plate welded under the dash would have looked more appealing...

My 63' Dart 270 interior photos.

Thanks ZooKypr! The gauge on the shifter console is trans temp. The material on the dash pad is not original. It was also used for the visors and rear package tray. I didn't like it much at first but it has grown on me. Larry

My 63' Dart 270 interior photos.

It so hard to tell from photos, but it looks a little lighter blue than mine... door panels as well. I think a dark blue would be too contrasting. A lighter blue or aqua would sure work. That would be my bias opinion of course. LOL! Charlie Brown Teacher Speaking - YouTube
