    66-73 stock small block heads?????

Everyone is gonna chime in and tell ya that eddy or other aluminum heads are better than any stock cast iron head, and much lighter. Porting helps any stock head.

How many times can rod and main bolts be torqued?

I must be the luckiest person on the planet! Back in the "bad old days" we street raced and ran the hell out of mud trucks with "dirt road rebuilds" all the time. These were our daily drivers as well! My friends and I had piles of core engines and would rob a rod out of one if we needed to...

The material most likely got shaved off the bearings when the cam was slid in on the initial installation.

LA 360/5.9L Small Block Build - Advice?

Mine is a stock rebuild (rings, bearings, timing set) on an 80k mile std. bore block, with X heads and a mild cam. It's dressed like the original commando engine my car came with.

LA 360/5.9L Small Block Build - Advice?

X2. With the shortblock at 160k miles you would have it back apart shortly. The exhaust choices are limited to the 273 manifolds or expensive headers. The most logical bore would be .030 over.

    64 barracuda compression test

Ballpark of 120 range for a 2bbl 273, maybe 150+ on a commando. The big deal is not having any cyls. read lower than the rest. Do yer comp. test with all plugs out.

    Threadlocker question

Just about anything that bolts to the engine would have a lock washer on it. No need for Locktite inside the motor, just proper torque.

    Bonami sealed the rings!

I heard of comet and bon ami for seating rings back in the 70's when I worked in my family's auto parts store. Dad was a factory rep for sealed power in the 60's and early 70's and would cringe when he heard of someone doing this. The only explanation we could come up with was that the cylinder...

Your thoughts on this engine (photos included)

Back in the 80's I bought a 72 challenger for $400 because of low oil pressure. Changed the timing set and pulled the pan and cleaned the pickup and everything was fine.
