    440 RB question

although everyone says the late 70's 440's and 400's are dogs in stock form they will outpreform a stock 318 very easily, I have a stock 400 from RV in a 1977 dodge truck and it works real nice, good on fuel too compared to 318 (more power)

How to seal 440 dipstick tube elbow?

these shouldn't need tape as they don't seal on the threads on the dipstick side of it, where it screws into the pan would need it though it should have a double flare on the dipstick tube and be a good flare, if its ovaled or off centered thats an issue, also I've seen before that the brass...

not A body; but need big block truck help!!

I got mounts from a member on here, and it looks like the passengers side manifold may work but the drivers side definatly won't depending on what your truck was (2wd or 4wd) I would be interested in the manifolds if your willing to sell them; if not if you could snap a couple pictures that...

    distributor solenoid purpose?

dan, I have read through that article but one thing that confuses me is that the wire runs directly from the starter relay wire to the advance canister on the distributor. It looks factory with the heat resistant coating that mopar used. there appears to be no spot on the carburator or any...

    distributor solenoid purpose?

here is what I found on another forum " on some 400 CI's there is a separate Advance Solenoid that is part of the vacuum advance. The solenoid only get power during start to help with starting" this makes sense because the wire went to the relay wire on the starter solenoid (small wire...

    7 1/4 stock 400

then the differential pin will snap, had it happen. the gears are just too weak to handle any sort of power if your going to abuse it, 8-1/4 will hold but to be sure a 8-3/4 will take lots of abuse. if you look at the inside of an 7-1/4 compared to a 8 1/4 you will see what we mean by weak.

    400's are they any good?
