    Gear Vendor

Did your shifter end up in the same location in the 4 speed hump or did you have to modify the hump? This part wasn't clear to me when reading on the gear vendors website. Thanks.

When you use the B/E output shaft are you able to use it with the A body tailshaft housing so that the shifter location is not changed?

    A body 8 3/4 rear axle housing

Thank you 65Val! That is exactly the info I was looking for. It appears I have the 70-72 housing. Now I know which year lines to order. Thanks to everyone for replying!

    A body 8 3/4 rear axle housing

I have an 8 3/4 rear housing that I need to order the steel brake line for, however I don't know what it came out of. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that, depending on the year, the hole that the T-fitting and vent screw thread into is located in different spots. As best I could measure under...

    a904 front seal removal

It doesn't look like it's in an area that will affect the seal? Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will take a look.

    a904 front seal removal

I would make sure there are no burrs or raised nicks on the inside edge of the recess in the transmission the seal goes in and rub some trans fluid on the outside metal edge of the seal and definitely on all the rubber parts of the seal. Harbor freight probably has same puller for cheaper.

    a904 front seal removal

I just did this a couple of months ago. Bought a cheap AutoZone seal puller and kept the flat part of handle against the input shaft, put the hook part under the inside lip and lever it right out.

    904 front seal

Yes, had it fully seated the first time, and had it packed with light grease to hold the spring in. Will check hub for cracks and smoothness. Thanks everybody.

    904 front seal

Stupid question but I'm going ask anyway. I removed transmission and installed new front seal, coated with trans fliud and put the torque converter in. Trans is still out of car but had to remove converter again. Is it OK to reinstall converter with same seal or should I use a new one? I would...

Auto trans input shaft/TC hub vs crankshaft register

It's just a matter of budget. This is a stock engine and trans. The transmission is good but who knows for how much longer (no history of the transmission was available when I bought the car). If I got the new converter and then the transmission goes out in a few months then I have to have that...

Auto trans input shaft/TC hub vs crankshaft register

Anyone know where I can find the bushing? Been searching this morning but no luck. Thanks for the replies everybody.

Auto trans input shaft/TC hub vs crankshaft register

Sorry, don't know the correct terms. Yes, the pilot on the tc that fits into the crankshaft register is 1.55 inches in diameter. The crankshaft register is larger at 1.8 plus inches. I still don't know which of the splined shafts in the transmission is the output shaft. The small inner one has...

Auto trans input shaft/TC hub vs crankshaft register

When someone says " the input shaft should have 27 splines" are they talking about the smaller inner splined shaft or the larger outer splined shaft? Also, can you use a TC with a hub of 1.55 inches with a larger crankshaft register of 1.8 something inches?

    Converter for 904

Sorry guys, I just got back to this. Too much going on taking away from car time. Not familiar with terminology. Is the crankshaft pilot the part on the TC that fits into the crankshaft end recess? There is a smaller inner splined shaft and a larger outer splined shaft. Is the outer splined...

    Converter for 904

I have a 67 dart I may need to replace the converter on. It is a 904 trans. I assume it is original but don't know. Is there an easy way to tell? I looked on Summits Web site and their converters were listed for 68 and up. Are the converters or transmissions different from 67 to 68? It does have...
