Where to put the air compressor?

If I would put it in the mezzanine, it would definitely be in an insulated enclosure. Was the vibration an issue up there?

Where to put the air compressor?

Either way I do it, there would be vents. Possibly even a bathroom exhaust fan setup similar to the one in this video

Where to put the air compressor?

I did think about putting the compressor out in the enclosed lean-to as well which will be gravel.

Where to put the air compressor?

So I’m in the process of building a shop and am debating on where I should put my 80 gallon Kobalt vertical compressor. The two options I’m considering are… 1. build a small room off the back of the shop (which would require spending a little more for the concrete, lumber and metal needed) or...

    Building a shop, - ground anchors .

I’m thankful that I’d seen someone else mention this same thing last year. Because of that, I added 4 of them in my shop floor. Shop still isn’t done, so I haven’t gotten to use them yet, but I’m sure they’ll come in super handy.

    Floor Coatings Questions

I gotcha. That’s not my brother then, he’s got a business named Tricor Floor Prep in Fort Worth, tx. Sure looks like him from a distance though!

    Floor Coatings Questions

Where are you located? The reason I ask, the guy running the grinder looks a lot like my brother (gets grainy when I zoom in so I can’t tell for certain) who does commercial floor prep and epoxy floors. And my advice to anyone considering epoxy, I second what @cosgig said, don’t bother with the...

    Fab room ceiling height?

Main part of my shop will be 16’ side walls with parallel cord trusses, so I’ll have no shortage of clearance for lifts. The ceiling height we’re discussing here is simply for the fab/welding room

Ever wonder if a radiant barrier is worth it?

Hey there guys n gals, have y’all ever wondered if adding a radiant barrier to your shop build is worth it? Well, I’m in the middle of building my shop, will be insulating it with 2” foam board and was debating on whether it’d be worth spending the extra $1500 to add radiant barrier as well, so...

Need Quick Garage Cost Info ASAP !!

I’m in the process of building a shop myself. It’s a 40x60x16 with 14x60 lean-to’s on both sides. 54x60x5” concrete pad with in-floor heat. So far I’m right at $50k and I haven’t ordered my roof metal or garage doors and I’ll need a little more lumber yet. My goal is to have the exterior...

    Fab room ceiling height?

I guess there’s no reason my loft needs to be all the same height. Here’s an idea I had. Make the ceiling height in the utility closet/bathroom and lawn room 8’, which would make the loft height around 9’. Then make the fab room ceiling height 9’ or 10’ which would make the loft height over that...

    Fab room ceiling height?

My fab room will be 12x20. For ventilation, I could put a few exhaust fans in the ceiling, and ideally, I’d like to have one of those movable vent hood things to use over the welding table then to suck the smoke out before it house time to

    Fab room ceiling height?

Heating shouldn’t be too big of an issue. All exterior walls are 7” thick and will have board and batten siding, 1.5” air gap, 2” foam board and then either another 3.5” airgap or 3.5” of batt insulation or blown in cellulose. I’ll have infloor heat and I’ll throw a 12k btu window unit in a...

    Fab room ceiling height?

I’ll likely do a good sized sliding door or maybe a double slider so I can up it up 8-10’

    Fab room ceiling height?

A trolly/crane setup has crossed my mind and I’ll have to do some more research/thinking on that. It would be handy to move metal into the room. I plan to install a winch/elevator to lift stuff up into the loft.

    Fab room ceiling height?

I’d planned on using 2x8 joists every 16”, but I just looked up a joist span chart and prices, and decided I’ll use 2x10’s 16” apart. All wiring, lighting and duct work can be kept flush with or above finished ceiling height.

    Fab room ceiling height?

Shop will have 16’ side walls, so I could do 9’ ceiling, which would put the loft floor at around 10’. I’m using scissor trusses, so I’d still have plenty of room in the loft.

    Fab room ceiling height?

Ideally, I’d cover the ceiling but probably be bare joists for quite awhile

    Fab room ceiling height?

Currently building a shop and wanted to get y’all’s opinions on ceiling height in a metal/fab/dirty room. Will 8’ ceilings be sufficient for anything I might eventually need, like a vertical band saw?

Anyone have a 06 ram and your a/c quit working

Agreed! Probably one of the worst things Chrysler ever incorporated! Glad they’ve since gone away from them.

Anyone have a 06 ram and your a/c quit working

I really haven’t dug into mine at all, but it won’t do anything when I push the ac button. My volt meter also shows like 18v+ even though when I got the batteries and alternator tested and checked everything with a bolt meter, everything looked perfect. So with the multiple different electrical...

Anyone have a 06 ram and your a/c quit working

Yup. I just bought an 06 Cummins about a month ago and the AC doesn’t work. I’m afraid it’s the TIPM in mine as well. @Heywodja do you have info on the place that rebuilds them cheap?

    What the heck is this?

Was going through an old tool box that I bought years ago and I found this tool and I have no idea what it’s for. Looks like it says “Fletcher” on the side.

    Floor drain opinions wanted

    1) The drains will either be going to daylight with one-way caps on them, or going to a dry well. 2) We’re about a mile from a watershed lake. 3) I spoke to the plumbing inspector and building inspector, only building code I need to adhere to is minimum of 10’ from property lines and the...

    Floor drain opinions wanted

I met with the concrete contractor this evening to go over options and here’s what we came up with. We’ll be putting a trench drain (blue) in 15’ from the doors and 6’ from either side wall. The first 30’ of the shop will all drain toward the drain, the remainder of the shop will be flat. He...

    Floor drain opinions wanted

I’d be concerned with it freezing at the door and risk damaging the seal when the door opens.
