    Ammeter and battery

Actually, I am guessing that the battery was almost done charging when i took the charger off. When I started it up - the needle hovered at zero and stayed there on my way up to NAPA. Load tested at NAPA and the battery checked out fine. Drove it around for about 45 minutes and the ammeter just...

    Ammeter and battery

Well, the trickle charge never brought the battery to full charge - at least it never went to green - even after being on the battery for almost 18 hours. So I am going to run the battery up to autozone and have them run a load test.

    Ammeter and battery

I do have a trickle charger. It's funny that you made that comment b/c I recently had it at a body shop for some work and I suspected that they may have run the battery down some with either the trunk or door being open for a long period of time. I am assuming they know to take the positive off...

    Ammeter and battery

1975 Dart Swinger /6. It sat for a few days and then when I started it up today the ammeter was all the way to the right (+40) not pegged but pretty far over. It stays that way during normal driving. However, at stop signs and in reverse it moves back to zero. There's nothing erratic about the...

Where to run power cable for hidden amp

That's not a bad idea. Conversation starter anyway. I appreciate the responses. I think i have my answer. I need to run the remote wire to one of the fuses that turns on with the key. At least, that is what I am going to do rather than make a separate control.

Where to run power cable for hidden amp

Where to run power cable for hidden amp

As I mentioned in my first post, I don't want it to be connected to my stock A.M. radio. I want it to be separate. From what I see online, you need to run the power cable directly to the battery (with a fuse). Amps, including mine, have a remote input and I could put in an on/off switch to that...

Where to run power cable for hidden amp

Ok, where is the keyed 12v hot usually? I have a 75 Dart Swinger.

Where to run power cable for hidden amp

I am wanting to run an amp under the seat of my Swinger to power a pair of 6x9 in the back ( I recently purchased a new package tray with slits for sound). I don't want to interfere with my stock radio in any way. To power it I know I need to run it up to my battery with a fuseable link. My...

    Battery fried and more

Alright, it turns out that it was in fact the alternator. There was an internal short to ground. Replaced and everything is a-ok.

    Battery fried and more

No, the charge was steady when the BLUE field wire was NOT connected. The green wire was still connected.

    Battery fried and more

Update: First of all, sincere thanks to everyone who responded. Ok, so we thoroughly scrapped and cleaned all ground connections down to bare metal -Voltage regulator, alternator, etc. When the car starts up the voltage meter would show the voltage climbing quickly up to 17-18v. Shut car off...

    Battery fried and more

Car: 75 Dart Swinger Initial problem: Battery was hot, boiling, etc. after driving for an hour or so. Initial fix: Changed out voltage regulator and ballast resistor. Checked battery while running and it was at about 14v and seemed ok. Drove it the next day to work and the battery began...

Lights and accessories fluctuating (some thoughts and thanks)

First, I am pretty new to the forums. Second, even though i am in my mid-40's, I am also new to owning a classic car and working on it myself. I have a very generous friend who has been guiding me when things come up. I have recently had an electrical issue come up that he and i researched...

No. It just raises and then is stable until I am completely idle or in reverse.

    Radio issues

I recently purchased a stock AM radio for my 75 Dart. Installed and it works fine except that when I accelerate the signal gets louder. Idle and especially reverse, the sound level drops. To be extra clear, when I am idle or reverse it's one sound level and then when I accelerate it gets louder...

    Ashtray light question

I have a bulb in the ashtray on my 75 Dart. It doesn't illuminate so I replaced the bulb with the correct bulb but it still doesn't turn on. Truth is I don't know how that bulb works. Is it just supposed to be on all the time or is there some way to turn it? No clue - sorry and thanks to anyone...
