    Just to add to the conversation.. The reason I did the 318 is because... I had a 1968 block, everyone else is doing 360 stroker engines, and mine actually made 450 H.P. and 490 FPT.

    I know small blocks rev, but if in my case the engine has been built and been on the dyno... My 318/390 made it's most torque and H.P. less than 5000 RPM, so doesn't make sense to rev the crap out of it unless it keeps making power! Just my 2 cents.I shift at 5000

    I'm just jumping in here but, my 1968 318/390 stroker is 30 over. I think cam is 287/525, edlebrock heads out of the box, edlebrock performer intake, 750 quickfuel manual secondary,double pump, no choke. It made 450H.P. and 490 TQ. Sorry, it's first coffee, I'm just thinking numbers are low...

    Soooooo, that's what I did 6 years ago. Everyone thought I was crazy to stroke a 1968 318, but it turned out awesome! The machine shop said all the parts I researched and purchased for the build was great. Edlebrock aluminum heads, comp cam with 525 lift/287 duration if I remember. 390 stroker...

    I run the factory 68-70 340 mani's with stock factory exhaust and my 318/390 stroker runs very well. I also was thinking of spending large $ on headers and 2 1/2" exhaust but I don't really think I would gain a whole lot,besides I love the stock look under the hood!

    A little different but I took my 1968 318 block and had it machined 30 over with a stroker kit.It became 390 c.i. and produced 450 h.p and 490 foot lbs trq.Why? because everyone does the 360/408,and when someone wants to look under my 68 Cuda they will see the 68/318 stamped on the block..Enjoy...

    I use the 51515 Wix.Never had any issues.. of course it is the larger one.
