Water can seep/flow from a water passage between the head and block, into the lifter galley. I never had that problem, but I know others that would put a very thin wipe of silicone sealer around the water passages, like an "O" ring.

I have been using Hylomar spray. The real stuff made in England, not the stuff that was made/sold by (I think) Permatex. Hylomar aerosol spray for copper head gaskets & more!

I have a head with Manley valves and two were bad. I had to send them the valves, to get replacements. The big mistake I made was not getting a quote. $90+ ea for one intake and one exhaust. Plus shipping both ways. PS: and over 4 weeks to get them.

Those chambers do not look like any stock chambers I have ever seen. Milled or not. I have a head that has chambers at 39 CC's. and it does not have that "lump" between the valves opposite the spark plug.

Personally, I don't like changing cam timing with the crank sprocket. I do like the JP/Rollmaster timing sets, but the crank sprocket fits extremely tight to the crank. Nope, Green Cove Springs. South of Jacksonville. Jax Dragway was closed some years before GCS even started. GCS onle ran about 3 years. It was very racer friendly.
