    More nonsense from NHRA Tech

NHRA sucks. I stopped racing in "stock" back in the '80's due to their BS.

    452 heads on a 1965 Wedge ?

Be carefull. Not all E-85 is 85 % alcohol. E-85 means a MAXIMUM of 85 %, it can be lower. The only E-85 you can trust to be consistent 85% is what you buy in a drum. PS: They sell a inexpensive "kit" that you can use at the pump to check the actual percentage...

Water can seep/flow from a water passage between the head and block, into the lifter galley. I never had that problem, but I know others that would put a very thin wipe of silicone sealer around the water passages, like an "O" ring.

I have been using Hylomar spray. The real stuff made in England, not the stuff that was made/sold by (I think) Permatex. Hylomar aerosol spray for copper head gaskets & more!

I have a head with Manley valves and two were bad. I had to send them the valves, to get replacements. The big mistake I made was not getting a quote. $90+ ea for one intake and one exhaust. Plus shipping both ways. PS: and over 4 weeks to get them.

Those chambers do not look like any stock chambers I have ever seen. Milled or not. I have a head that has chambers at 39 CC's. and it does not have that "lump" between the valves opposite the spark plug.

Personally, I don't like changing cam timing with the crank sprocket. I do like the JP/Rollmaster timing sets, but the crank sprocket fits extremely tight to the crank. It is very hard to get on and off, unless the ID of the sprocket is "honed "out a little bit. The reason I like the cam bushing...

Just a FYI incase you are not aware. That is usually caused by the cam bolt loosening. The correct cupped cam washer is critical, and blue locktite should be used on the bolt. Also if using a offset cam bushing, make sure the cam washer goes over at least part of the bushing (or stake the...

Yep, use what you have, if possible. Don't know what the Venolias will give you, but it looks like these pistons will give about 10-1. Then milling the head and/or decking the block wil bump that up to the range you are looking for. For those that don't want high CR the dome on the piston can be...

    4) I believe the target static CR with stock 225 rods and block is around 10:1 but I will ask. Milling block/head can get you much more, and milling the bump off the top of the piston would get you something like 8.5:1, I believe is the idea.

    Big safety changes coming

Heck, I've been to many tracks where they don't even look at the car. Went to a track this spring. Never been there before. Official never got up from his chair. Only thing he mentioned was that my headers might be too low, and cause a problem in staging. PS: I have a nitrous fogger system.

Looking for advice on a blueprint engine.

What is the end use/purpose of the engine? What is the torque comparison between the two? Deciding on an engine based on rod length is a lesson in futility.

    Converter has reached its limit

The last converter I got was from FTI (as previously posted). Just wanted to try one of theirs as they are local to me. Prior to that I have used Edge Racing converters. Good service and fair pricing. Plus they built me stuff, no one else would.

Grass roots drag racing is dying. I have raced at Atco, Englishtown, Strato rods, Atlantic City, and Island Dragway in NJ used to be my home track. As far as I know Island Dragway is the only NJ dragstrip still operating. Over the years I have raced at over 50 different drag strips. Most of them...

    More Seat Belt Baloney

Several years ago, I went to Gainesville raceway for a TnT. 66 Barracuda 170 slant six on spray. Street and strip, low 13's-high 12's. Had a aftermarket 3 inch racing lap belt. 1 year expired. Got dinged in tech (at that time rules stated non expired belt). I took the OEM 1966 belt out of the...

Possible new drag strip in Florida

This was one reason. Florida Dragstrip Given Reprieve In Noise Battle With Neighbors But the main reason was the track had a three year lease. Possible new drag strip in Florida

Just reading about the track in W Virgina. The proposed operator that was mentioned in the article (and did not follow thru) seems to be the same person that operated Green Gove Springs , Pete Scalzo. https://www.dragzine.com/news/west-virginias-all-new-dragstrip-needs-an-operator/

Possible new drag strip in Florida

Nope, Green Cove Springs. South of Jacksonville. Jax Dragway was closed some years before GCS even started. GCS onle ran about 3 years. It was very racer friendly.
