    Aluminum intake install - 340

It's also a good time to mock it up with your valve covers installed, especially if they're aftermarket. It's not common these days but sometimes the inner gasket rails need to be notched a bit so they'll sit flush on the heads. These fit a SBC but the principle is the same.

Classic Industries chrome fuel tank cap warning.

Telling us is all fine and good but maybe tagging the company to let them know about a hazardous condition might be prudent.

    Edelbrock setup for dual quad

That looks to be polished aluminum but yes, I have chrome replica powders. The FAQ on my website is the best place to start. I'm not doing a guess on someone else's intake in the middle of a thread.

    Air Cleaner Paint

A lot of them were from what I've seen cross my bench. Some were even wrinkle on the outside and semi gloss inside.

Powder is another option. If you go for a Gold membership you'll save 5% on the labor. :usflag:

    The new Edelbrock 1912 800 AVS2

Check out the new Edelbrock 4150 VRS. I've been a Holley woman my whole life ... but with true adjustability throughout, other manufacturers poo-pooing carburetors in favor of EFI, costing around $800, and the only 'detriment' being a half inch taller, it would certainly seem that Edelbrock came...

    Highlighting script on LD340 intake

Wow, thank you for the mentions!!! Cast aluminum lettering can be very "sharp" but most logos need at least some metal clean up first. Without it, lettering will look fuzzy and unprofessional with likely color bleed. Sanding off that layer of paint to reveal the bare aluminum works ... but it...

    a 2x4 setup question

Very cool Rod! It looks like you have a solid plan in mind. Even if it takes awhile, I'm looking forward to seeing your results.

What to use to clean this carb?

I sometimes save pics like this from online powder coating forums I look at. Though carbs don't usually apply, the discussion of acids does. How Not to Strip Magnesium 101: Some in my industry use this wicked, EPA-controlled chemical called B17 (and improperly used in the pic above). It...

    I wish. I have a gallon of B12 Chemtool.

    a 2x4 setup question

Talk about warm fuzzy feelings!!! You're too kind Rob, but you know I love working with you whenever it happens (and there's been quite a few over the years). I'm guessing you're talking about your old Street Dominator?? I still have a few pics of it too but they were taken under a weird...

    a 2x4 setup question

I'm a bit late to the party but I can maybe help out with the decision. :D This is actually Rumblefish360's up there as timing would have it. Though for a SBC, this 2-piece setup lets you see how it looks in a custom two tone powder job. Both customers chose Alien Silver, the most...

    Air gap intake restoration

The effects on the aluminum will vary depending on what grit the media is. Sand is basically a bad choice all around in my opinion not only for the adverse health issues it will cause but because it doesn't cut very well to start with unless you use a LOT of air pressure (which can then cause...

    Air gap intake restoration

Look up something called "silicosis" and you'll quickly decide that your lungs are more important than a nice finish.

    Air gap intake restoration

No mopowers, I don't. I've been successful in talking everyone out of just clearing bare aluminum so far. All the ones I've restored have some color underneath the clear first.

    Air gap intake restoration

Yes, they make satin clear powders. If the metal is properly prepped and cleaned first, any powder will hold up over time better than paint or bare metal; it will be easier to keep clean and repel staining. I disagreed with Harrison on one point he made above. If you've ever seen a blasted...

Offenhauser Manifold with Stromberg Carbs (6-Pack/Tri-Power)

Ohhhhhh that sucks! On a brighter note though, it's still a desirable intake and you should be able to at least get your money back (if not make some). I'm sorry you got butchered.

Offenhauser Manifold with Stromberg Carbs (6-Pack/Tri-Power)

I love those old intakes too. I just got done with a resto / customization on a different vintage Offy TriPower for a customer (had to share pics since it's Rumblefish Rob's favorite color :D but with a twist this time). Best of luck with your setup ToMang!

    Bad Gas issue....fuel guys....fuel!

Especially with the ethanol fuels today, the StaBil fuel stabilizer should have been put in last Fall and idled through the system before it sat up for a few months (especially in your humid Illinois). It'll stink and run rough for a bit after that first seasonal fire-up, but it's proved to be...
