    Wrapped headers....or Unwrapped

Keep in mind any ceramic coating applied by the manufacturer or an independent shop has a warranty. That warranty is AUTOMATICALLY VOIDED by applying header wrap.

    Scams are heating up

Any time it crosses state lines it becomes a federal matter. Most jurisdictions also now have Internet Fraud divisions or task forces. Even little Greenfield (pop. 2198) has one. I used it a few years ago to stop a stalker on here. They referred me to the FBI who visited him at work at Auto Zone.

    Scams are heating up

PayPal fees for international transactions are also higher than domestic ones. Currency conversions are also involved. You were right to be wary.

Black Friday sales. Who’s buying what.

Same here, pretty much dwindling off since November 4 of 2020. With one job on the bench and nothing behind it, it's grim and the fat lady is in the parking lot warming up her vocal chords. Hard to admit after 17 years ......

"Isn't great" is putting it kindly. I extended mine through the 30th and have still only sold one $100 Gift Certificate. I added ten percent to it.

Just got car back from ceramic coating

Ceramic coating for paint jobs is marketed to "last for 200 car washes." Results may vary.

    Attempted theft

After too many times getting the gas stolen out of the old Ford tractor and lawn mower out behind the shop overnight, we put in motion detector LEDs. It didn't help. So we painted several old 1x6s black, pounded $10 worth of 16-penny nails into them, and laid them out around the perimeter...

Intake design for stock appearing class and needed a winter project

Cool effort! Lots of work for sure. It kinda sounds like cheating to me but I'm unfamiliar with stock-appearing classes. For all I know it's encouraged. Keep us posted! I want to see how it turns out.

    1972 Dodge Colt

I hope that was really a six-color job. All silver powders need a clear coat to seal them because there's real metal in the powder which will oxidize over time. They look cool though!

    Drag Week 2019

That makes me happy @Cope! I appreciate your support. Kind of along those lines, it's been awhile since FABO had any contests. I was considering calling out the other Vendors and Forum Sponsors to see if they might want to kick in on a package to help one of you get to Drag Week in safety and...

    Powder Coated Alumnastars

You're right. I was thinking more of stock ones than aftermarket.

    Powder Coated Alumnastars

When aluminum is heated to outgas it (which removes impurities and air trapped in the metal) and cure powder, neither process will impact the metal negatively because it doesn't get hot enough or cook that long. I outgas at 500 degrees and most powders cure between 380 and 400. Any metal...

    Powder Coated Alumnastars

If the job is done well it should last for many years absent curb rash, etc. You're better off making sure your installer doesn't use the 1,600 foot pound air ratchet though.

Header Wrap, what do you like

Just a note here to those with ceramic header coatings: applying header wrap on top of it will VOID any warranty the company may have offered at the time of purchase or coating.

    header wrap? pro's / con's

This may have already been mentioned, but header wrap will completely void any manufacturer's warranty if your headers were ceramic coated at the factory.

    New racecar nearing completion

Not to be Sad Sally here, but you might want to check your local track rules on that powder coated chassis. A lot of sanctioning bodies are not allowing it anymore because it prohibits thorough weld inspections.

    Refinishing Super Tricks

Cool idea treblig!!! I'd bet a Bondo spreader might work well for the center area. You could remove 3 of the lug nuts, fold the sandpaper over the edge to where you could hold it with your fingers, position it next to the hub and press it straight down til you get to the other lug. They'd...

    Refinishing Super Tricks

For what it's worth, I agree with the others who say powder isn't going to be your best option to achieve the old school original look you're going for. If you do end up going with a homespun method like the cool ideas above, they can be preserved. Check out the new Cerakote ceramic clears from...
