Put a 1/2" fiber type spacer under the carb. That solved a problem a friend had with his slant. Also as mentioned by others here, isolate the fuel lines away from the heat sources.

Wish I had just a plain old slant 6 daily driver. I think the slants are on a come back. Go for it!

I agree with CARS! Put a solid cam back in that thing. Solid lifters, adjustable rockers and the correct push rods.

You can't run solid lifters with a hydraulic cam. Best bet is to change the cam and lifters to solid.

To save yourself future headaches, take them off and have the machine shop grind them flat. I see you haven't installed them in your car yet, so it should be an easy fix. Just my opinion.
