Just checked Holly’s eBay store and 2.5” kit is out of stock but shows 4 available in 3”. BH23112 Hooker BlackHeart Crossmember Back Exhaust System | eBay Kind of wishing I had gone 3” just for those “someday” ideas. And a couple of bucks cheaper than the 2.5” kit too.

No argument. I bought the kit after you posted these pictures so not worried about it either. Just curious. A buddy and I keep talking about the Monroe swap meet. Might have to see if I am back on my feet by then.

Did you reach out to Holley about the “X” pipe? I bought a set this last weekend. Going to need an exhaust for my ‘73 G3 swap project and can’t imagine getting a better price anywhere. Regardless of the bait and switch on the cross over.

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

Don't remember that test. I have issues with the magazine test, not because they could be skewed by sponsors, but because the 300 HP crate motor is too tame to really show a difference. Any motor that get's swapped from the beer barrel intake and EFI to a dual plane with a 4 bbl and sees...

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

Do you mean the infamous Mopar Muscle article? Struggling to find a link but the one that showed like 5 or 10 HP difference between the standard manifolds and the HP manifolds?

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

I've never looked at a 318 and 340 log manifold side by side before. Interesting how the 340 manifold is larger, outlet diameter excluded. Makes me think the factory saw value in making it bigger.

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

Personally, I don't want to give anything up I don't have too. So, if it were me, I would run a 340 DS manifold and an early Jeep PS manifold. The DS 340 manifold is cheap(er) when compared to the PS free flow since they made the same DS manifold from '68-74, but the good PS manifold was...

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

Be aware that some Magnum heads don't have enough material around the port to seal a 340 exhaust manifold. Not all, but my R/T heads and some OEM heads I have seen can be a problem. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/340-exhaust-manifolds.437577/#post-1972547765

    Header/manifold dyno test

Be careful with the published cam specs on the magnums. The info wasn’t updated very well and the 5.9 shows the old 360 valve sizes even though the heads are the same as the 5.2. Pretty sure the valve lift even used the 1.5 ratio to calculate it. So, I wouldn’t trust the cam specs. I had a...

    Header/manifold dyno test

Be aware that the cam in the motor is so small that it barely has bumps on it. So the exhaust isn’t the choke point. The test is kind of pointless and shouldn’t be used to say “headers are only worth 15 hp”, or whatever the difference is. Put a better cam in the motor and I bet the...

    72 340 pass side manifold

I think maybe that test isn't valid. I am concluding this based on the dyno test on YouTube where a JY 5.9 was compared to a 300hp crate motor and they made within 1 hp of each other. Exhibit A - even though the crate motor had a better horsepower producing intake (in theory), they made the...

Headers for a original 1974 dodge dart 360 sport 4 speed

There is no difference between a '72 and '74 in regards to motor/4 speed equipment that I know of, and a member here has installed a set on his 74 Duster (now a 71 Demon). Pretty rare car, if it is original. Love to see pictures, but maybe in a welcome thread instead of here so we don't go off...

Are the TTI shorties really my only option?

I guess the .dwg file was enough, no .dxf file. I can give you a "nested" drawing with all the parts on one drawing, or outside and center drawings so you can get them nested and cut as required. Here is a clip of nested drawing.

Are the TTI shorties really my only option?

I have an AutoCAD drawing and a .dxf file, from which I was able to get a complete set cut on a plasma table. I used 14 gauge plate (I think) because that was the thinnest they would cut (thinner can spring up and damage the cutting head). I wanted 16 gauge, but couldn't get them to do it. I...

Are the TTI shorties really my only option?

I would suggest you try the plates then. I can give you my layout and you could look into getting a set cut, if you want.

Are the TTI shorties really my only option?

Disappointed to hear that. I was hoping to hog out a 318 manifold, swap that in with a large outlet Magnum passenger side manifold, doing away with the adapter plates and putting $400 in my pocket. Oh well. I do have a plan to square the steering column up to the car which might...

Are the TTI shorties really my only option?

It's not so much the size of the port that is the issue, it's the material around the port that the gasket seals on and where it is. The 340 manifold port drops far enough down that the EQ and MP R/T heads don't have any material for the manifold to seal to along the bottom. Sorry about the...

Are the TTI shorties really my only option?

It's not the chassis that is the issue with the 340 driver's side manifold, it's the fact that the EQ and MP R/T heads don't have enough meat around the exhaust port at the bottom for the manifold to seal to the head. That manifold works fine, if you use an OEM head, but if you want the better...

Are the TTI shorties really my only option?

Might be worth mentioning so everyone understands that the source of your problem and why you need a different header/manifold option is the issue of aftermarket Magnum heads not having enough meat around the exhaust port to seal the early freeflow manifolds. OEM heads seemed to have more than...

NEW 340 manifolds at a reasonable price

Don't know, but sure looks like you lost about 2-3 inches of ground clearance there at the collectors. Maybe not enough to worry about, certainly if you haven't had problems, but not as much as just a pipe would give you. No worries, I agree they make more power, and probably don't affect the...

NEW 340 manifolds at a reasonable price

I don't have TTI's, only looked at them on other cars. The always seemed low at the cross member. I'm not planning to go any lower that it looks like your car is.

NEW 340 manifolds at a reasonable price

TTI's still don't give enough ground clearance, the collector and flange becomes the lowest part of the chassis. I'm betting Doug's aren't any better but I haven't looked at them. Both are far better than Hookers, but not enough if you want the car low.
