Yes i just wanted to make sure. I new it would be advanced just wasn't sure how much with the mild cam it seems to idle fairly well but until i get it on the street for a test drive then i can do some final tweaking. I tried advancing it to like 20 and it seem to idle better around 12 or 15...

Yes exactly what friend said good advice, so i did that made sure all was clean. Im thinking it may be bad out of the box I have put on holleys before and right out of the box hardly touched them and worked great for years!

I did not check fuel pressur, I do know its getting plenty of fuel i can see it out of the squirters fine and in the in fuel filter. I checked the site holes for the floats and followed holley instructions etc it should just trickle out when site is removed and that exactly what its set at?

this is a brand new out of the box holley 600 dbl pumper mechanical secondaries manual choke carb. the vacuum line under front bowl came plugged and i left it that way. Not sure what screw you mean but i went over the whole carb and made sure everything was snug.

Hmm not sure whats the cause may be some of you know? I can easily fire my engine up it runs for a 30 seconds or so and sounds good then dies then will not start again untill I manually pump the the throttle linkage on the carb and again it will fire right up? if I try to keep it going it bogs...

well it runs and timing is OK but having damn carburetor problem I bought a holley 600 mechanical double pumper I'm having nothing but problems with it from running to rich and leaking gas ready to through it in the garbage. LOL but unfortunately i bought it new and that would be a waste of...

well a couple of turns and she fired right up didn't run long sounded good and i tried it again and my battery started to die so i put in on the charger try tomorrow........

Thanks for the sudgetions i will try tonight turning it to zero to and see if both push rods are loose and that tdc is at cyl#1 and drop the gear in directed towards cyl #1 wish me luck LOL

Ok just got my 72 340 back from the shop all freshend up i have installed it back in the car. Primed the motor and I have a oil pressure so all good. I do know that with distributer in it should point at cylinder one when installed. Its tough to turn motor over and hold my finger over cylinder...

Hello I just had my 340 engine rebuilt for a resto im doing on my 72 340 Duster, I need to know the proper way to prime the engine before I start. I have made a shaft to fit into the oil pimp but not sure what way to turn it and for how long etc? Any help thanks.
