Using lead to fill trim holes

OK, maybe now. Bear with me if this doesn’t work.

Using lead to fill trim holes

Someone help me figure out putting pics into posts. I thought I had done it in the past but it has been one failure after another for a while.

Using lead to fill trim holes

[/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]Bought this kit from Eastwood and it had everything I needed. The half round file was by far used more than anything, including the file included in the kit. Body panels are next.

Using lead to fill trim holes

Is that Bondo? Never heard of it, just thought lead was going to be the best for longterm durability.

Using lead to fill trim holes

Went much better today. Taught myself a few tricks, like if the blob of lead falls off the hole, just lube the paddle up and scoop up the lead. Hold it under the hole on the paddle and heat it there, spreading it once it’s hot. Also backed the holes with 600 degree Ducting tape from 3M...

Using lead to fill trim holes

I am filling all of the holes left from removing vinyl top trim and the body trim along the Dart’s belt line, the kind that runs over the tops of the wheel openings and enters and exits pretty much right at the top of the bumpers. Wheel lip holes are going to be crazy to file down with...

Using lead to fill trim holes

I bought the kit from Eastwood and think I am going to use the lead on the top side where I can be sure it will stick. Leaning toward bondo on the quarters, fenders, doors. And yes, using a propane torch has been a challenge getting the heat right. Good thing I went for an extra couple of...

Using lead to fill trim holes

I was thinking this would be so much better with 2 more hands. Gotta find a day that it’s under 100 and not raining, not been easy lately. I’ll try again tonight I think.

Using lead to fill trim holes

It’s definitely going to take some practice. But it can be done on a vertical surface? I’m trying to get them all filled before I prime the car. A little nervous about the holes that lead into the interior, last thing I need is to burn down my car with an fire started by hot lead...

Using lead to fill trim holes

My main concern after attempting for the first time is: Can holes in body be lead-filled without removing all of the panels and laying them flat? I don’t own a welder and found lead to be the most economical alternative, but after countersinking the holes and tinning them, my lead all runs...

    Who refurbishes Tail Panels??

Yeah, I didn't figure it was chrome but found that as the best way to describe it without knowing the correct name. I'll shoot Waggin a PM and see if he can do it for under $600. If not, I wish I would have just left it alone. Thanks to those of you who gave me the help here.

    Who refurbishes Tail Panels??

I'm looking for someone who either makes a living from or refurbishes tail panels, trim, etc as a side job. I tried recently to strip and repaint my 68 Dart tail panel by taping it off, using oven cleaner on the reflective paint surfaces, and covering with plastic wrap in the sun. Worked great...

    Dart GTS Hood

Condition looks pretty good. I'd say we have a very even trade. Are all of the mounting studs there? None of mine are broken or bent. This is exactly what I'm looking for. I will PM you my address and contact stuff.

    Dart GTS Hood

yeah, that would be great. These are what you are looking for, I guess? 340? Anxious to see pics.

    Dart GTS Hood

These are what I have. 340 four barrel. Don't know if you were looking for 340 or 383.

    Dart GTS Hood

Just picked up the 69 hood complete with inserts. Looks like front of hood emblems may have been offset to driver side in 69 while right in center in 68. Will be selling inserts myself in order to afford the 68's.

    Dart GTS Hood

Yes, IMO 68 look much better than 69 but without engine callout. Just wanted to know if the 68 inserts would bolt right into a 69 hood. Sounds like a simple bolt on change between the two years. Thanks to both of you guys.

    Dart GTS Hood

Does anyone know if the 68 and 69 GTS hoods are interchangeable and if so, will the insert be interchangeable, too? Looking at a 69 hood but want to get factory correct 68 inserts on it. Thanks for your help.

    1968 Dart GTS Tail Panel

Wow! That is one sharp Dodge, sir. Very well done. I see the tail panel now and think this will be a relatively simple job. Thanks for the pics.

No good pictures of grille but it has same treatment as yours Dartman.

    1968 Dart GTS Tail Panel

I'll have to look into the painting thing. Didn't get a close enough look at the GTS panel to see if it was just a color change and not a panel design change. Wondering what the difference is between the grilles? Don't see any obvious differences. What do I need to be looking for? By the...

    1968 Dart GTS Tail Panel

Just saw a set of tail panels on FABO for sale, one for a GT and one for a GTS. Seems like Dodge used a variety of tail panels on their different Dart models from 67-69, so I am confused. My 68 GT has the all-silver reflective panel. I was looking at the panels for sale, then started looking...

What would you pull off this C Body for your A Body???

Went today and got one day inspection tag so I can get a title for this car. FYI. Thanks for the info dealing with getting this done.

What would you pull off this C Body for your A Body???

The car is posted for sale on the C Body site under exterior parts for sale and on Craigslist KC MO. Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm. I'm sure it serves your vehicles very well. Again, for the price I paid, I will not find a better deal for the driveline components. If someone is...

What would you pull off this C Body for your A Body???

Not a Sport Fury. This is a Gran Sport. Got the same front clip, A/C, tinted glass, but not the rare and very cool Sport Fury (440). Can look into title before engine is pulled if someone may come along for the body, so that can probably be done. I doubt they do house calls, as I'm not...

What would you pull off this C Body for your A Body???

Duster. Did not know it was that easy to do. Is a Missouri car. Need to be clear, I will be removing the radiator, motor, trans, drive-shaft, rear axle, possibly rear wheels, and brake system. Does that still sound good to anybody? You get a shell with no rear axle. I'm sorry this is...

What would you pull off this C Body for your A Body???

No title. I wanted the 383/727/8 3/4 for my 68 dart. Not a survivor by any means. There is rust, and who would want a title-less fury with no driveline? I'm not going through the trouble to get a title for this car if I'm a C-body guy. I just got it first for the motor, so I'm sorry it...

What would you pull off this C Body for your A Body???

Not the best shots. Was raining here. Is this out of line, since this is neither a sale thread or an A-Body? Oh well, whatever. This car is posted on the C-Body site now. More info there. Only had it here five hours and the rain has made it hard to do much detective work, but seems like...
