    I know it costs a fair bit more, but I prefer to mill off the cast in stands and use individual rockers on a bedplate when the application allows. They’re shim-able and allow for easier accessibility to a single pushrod or valvespring.

    Slowly rotate the engine until oil starts feeding out the rockers on one side. Then again until you get it out the other side, lol.

    Why not just leave it a 400 if you’ll be adding the turbos? Change the crank out with a forged 383 if you’re worried about it. If you find a good take out, that would also be the least expensive option. I’d add some ARP main bolts, bolt on the turbos and send it!

    I built this one a few years ago using the 240 heads (the 270’s weren’t out yet) and it’s been low 10’s in an A body with a horrible 1.8 sixty foot. The six pack tunnel ram kept us from 700hp. 537ci Really Sic Pak Wedge with Trick Flow Heads

    It all depends on how formidable it needs to be in the 1/8 mile. I think most assumed it was more street than race. My choice given the cubes and a cross ram, would be a hemi.

    I had a hydraulic roller ground for use in a 48 degree R3 block so a BBM is an easy one. No, probably not gonna be 800hp in street form.

    They work well with good lifters like a Morel, however, the one mentioned is quite small for a 572 cube engine. The 270 head would be a much better choice for this combo as well.

    I just did one last year using 2.200" rod journals and steel H-beams. Just a little clearancing on the oil pickup boss and all is well. Going to external oiling is added pain and expense and usually not needed.

    X2. 4.250 bore and 4.500 stroke is 510 cubes and will easily make your goals. Other than having those heads checked out and making sure the guides and valve job is right, you shouldn't have to spend big money on porting to make that kind of power. I'd get a StageV intake or at least a dual quad...

    Throw that cam away... it's way too much cam for that engine. You need something in the [email protected] range and it'll sing. That combo would be lucky if its got 8.5:1 CR.
