My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

Regular stick shift or a Lenco? Some people don't have the cubic dollars to pay to have a busted car hauled hundreds of miles home on short notice because they NEED to get to work the next day. I knew a guy who trailered his 12-second car because one, he didn't want to drive 100 miles on his...

Hey, the year it ran Cleveland to Little Rock there was a dude from Phoenix. Guy is Long Hauling from the Seattle area this year.

The Viper calipers on AR Engineering brackets with 12" B-body rotors WILL clear a 15" wheel. https://www.moparaction.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/16s-4.jpg (Can't attach pic, need to click the link.)

As awesome as that is...I have to admit that aluminum hubs for street use scare me.

    I'm surprised you don't like the gearing. I had 3.21s (original-318/3-speed 73), and found the opposite: it was too much, 3000RPM was ~65mph. I went from 3.21 to 2.76 with a 2.66 4-speed...and with my 360 Magnum, it's awesome. I wouldn't mind a 3.09 trans, but it's fine with what I have.

If you use a shovel to help install a transmission...you might be a redneck. That was bloody awful.

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

What does a 4'5" backspace wheel interfere with in front? There is a guy near me selling a complete set of Year One 17" Rally wheels with Conti tires-17x9, 5" backspace, 275/40, and 17x8, 4.5" backspace, 245/40.

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

Don't you have a wider track in front due to your brakes?

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

I'm torn between 17s or 18s. I'm thinking 17s, 245/45 (or even 235/50) probably. I was thinking 4.5" backspace on an 8" wheel...you say 5+"? Yeah, that's too low. I would lose headers in a week that low in this area.

You don't need the stock valve-it's not very good, anyway. An adjustable proportioning valve is better-they're less than fifty bucks. Speedway Black Adjustable Brake Proportioning Valve

There's NOTHING in that thread except an unsupported claim that the Evolution 2 is "the king daddy of them all." Nothing as to why, no numbers, no data, no details, just one man's unsupported opinion. I expect I do more night driving than anyone else on this forum. (I'm a truck driver working...
