Did the 1966 engine have a PCV (CCV) system?

A question that I am not sure how to even ask...

Seen many engines have oil/coolant mix & run a long time. My mother's Omni lost the head gasket with ~120K on it & was driven ~10 miles with a gallon of coolant in the oil. New head gasket & water pump, coolant flush, fresh oil...the car ran another 178,000 miles. Saw someone drive a truck...

A question that I am not sure how to even ask...

Most likely: if it takes 6 quarts, the dipstick is too short. (Chrysler dipsticks were notoriously inaccurate.)

Ultimate daily-driver Gen II A Body to build

Said transmission was, in fact, used in Supras.

For the lifters...just run a pan full of 10W-30 Quaker State DEFY oil, or 5W-40 synthetic diesel oil. :)

Ultimate daily-driver Gen II A Body to build

If it's like a few blow-thru setups I have seen, it's done simply by raising the fuel pressure. Basically, add 1psi for every psi of boost. Honestly...much as I like carb'd hot rods, I would not want a turbo engine without EFI.

Ultimate daily-driver Gen II A Body to build

One of the most durable automatics EVER built come from Asia. It saw use in Toyotas, Volvos, and even by M-B. (Note: It was also installed for 14 years by Chrysler.)

Then you have not driven some of the better-built cars!

Ultimate daily-driver Gen II A Body to build

Offhand: thirty-plus years of race experience and a vastly larger supply of parts and knowledge than the A500. (Also note: you will need an adapter to run ANY overdrive automatic trans-GM or Chrysler-behind a slant six.)

Ultimate daily-driver Gen II A Body to build

DO any of the FAST (or similar) plug-and-play EFI systems work with boost? Considering the early A-body's very-short tires...I wonder if a 2.94 might work better. Another reason for the 2.94: as I recall, find any 80's M-body police car, and you have a 2.94 Sure-Grip rear end. :)...

    /6 in a Ramcharger???

You're right: I just asked...it does NOT have a tilt column. But it DOES have cruise control.

    /6 in a Ramcharger???

Seen one, but it was a 2WD...base model, originally a fleet truck. Also saw a V6/auto Quad Cab 4x4 Dakota. Can you say putt...putt...putt?

    /6 in a Ramcharger???

Exactly my point! Note also: the NP203 was supposed to be only for automatics. It is absolutely loaded to the gills: A/C, power steering, power brakes, power windows, AM/FM/8-track, clearance lights, sliding rear window, tilt column...everything but the automatic trans and Kali emissions.

    /6 in a Ramcharger???

Chrysler built PLENTY of trucks that "should not exist"! My friend's grandfather has one: 1976 W-300 extended-cab, 440/NP435/NP203, with factory A/C, camper package, and Sno-Commander package.

    /6 in a Ramcharger???

    I drove a Ford F-800 ramp truck (GVWR 31,500) that was "powered" by a 2bbl 361 gasser with about 170HP. I got my CDL in a 1984 Ford L7000 soda truck (GVWR 28,500) with a 190HP 370 gasser. Drove a 35,000GVWR bus with a 160HP 6V71N.

    /6 in a Ramcharger???

Many trucks used slants, in 1-ton vans and even D300 pickups! Heck, many class A motorhomes only had 2bbl 318's. It would be slow, but would pull it if geared correctly.

    Slant 6 with 200r4?

    For a slant 6 A-body? The TH-200-4R.
  22. Jarlaxle

    Slant 6 with 200r4?

The TH-200-4R was the ONLY transmission ever used behind the turbo Buick engines...yes, even the 1989 Turbo Trans Am got them!
  23. Jarlaxle

    Slant 6 with 200r4?

Basically, better internal parts...sort of like the internal differences between a 727 behind a 2bbl 383 and one behind a 426 Hemi. :) Extra clutch packs, stronger planetaries, different governers, etc. I recall the lo-po 200's wouldn't lock the converter at WOT. If junkyard picking, you most...

    Slant 6 with 200r4?

Yep...GN's got the best ones, though the Monte Carlo, 4-4-2,and Hurst-Olds got upgraded ones. So did some B-bodies (seems to be wagons and some Caddys). Also, the later the TH-200-4R, the better it is as a core! (Mine came from, IIRC, a 1986 Cutlass.)

    Slant 6 with 200r4?

Per my wife's request, I will not post pictures of myself or my car. I think she's paranoid, but I will respect her wishes. And note: I have seen a TH700 hold up behind a 502 crate engine in a Pace Arrow tag-axle motorhome, pulling a 6500lb enclosed car transporter (containing a Super Bee)...

    Slant 6 with 200r4?

So is an MT750 series Allison...but who cares? The TH-200-4R is more than strong enough, especially for a slant six A-body! A 3000lb car with a 225ci engine is NOTHING for a 200!

Basically: it means a dealer put a new/rebuilt motor in it, usually under warranty.

    Slant 6 with 200r4?

It makes me laugh! My car runs a TH-200-4R, so does my wife's. Hers is a fire-breathing, rip-snorting 1986 Buick Grand National that put 763HP to the rollers and runs mid-10's on wrinkle-wall slicks at 3900lbs. It's a little easier on the trans than mine. Yes, I said EASIER: mine is a...
