I've wondered the same thing ... '75 was the last year for a "Duster 360" (VS29L5B) whereas the '76 models merely had the 360 as an option on any model .

Look for sales code "N42" ; if it's there , then the tips were on there originally . If you just see an "N41" , then no tips . N95 + N42 = wasn't sold new in Los Angeles or Orange counties due to noise-reduction laws ; nothing to do with emissions , period .

Noise laws , believe it or not . Even then it was subject to which county / locale the car was sold new in .

Thanks for the update on its 1970 grille :-) Body-colour fender-mount turn signals seem to be a 1970-1971 deal . I'm not sure if all of them were body-colour in those years , as I've only owned '72 - '74 Darts / Dusters , and all of those had the chrome signals . Perhaps it had something to do...
