    Adjust clutch freeplay

I like my clutches to release about an inch off the floor, but thats just me. Get a look through the clutch fork hole in the bell, and see if you can determine the clutch style... Diaphragm or Borg Beck. As I stated, if Diaphragm you should remove the over center spring. Other that that , start...

Cannot align A833 into bell housing!!!!

Thats what I was thinking also. I have seen that before, although not often. Also, you can buy a nice universal alignment tool from your professional Auto Parts Store. Might even be able to rent or use one from your local Auto Zone or Advance.

    1968 4 speed id numbers

I believe the number would only be there if it is an automatic transmission. On 68 engines however , the vin should be stamped there on the block, behind the left head.

Throw out bearing and clutch fork

The geometry should be correct if you are using a direct replacement Lakewood Scatter Shield

Throw out bearing and clutch fork

The second pic is correct. Make sure that after fork engages clip inside bell housing, and the linkage end is connected, that you still retain that relationship between bearing and fork. I have seen a lot of screwed up geometry, due to some one changing bell housings , or installing 5 and 6 speeds.
